2013 World Travel Awards Europe Hotel Winners

European hotel winners in the 20th Annual 2013 World Travel Awards reveal there are many award winning hotels in the major loyalty programs and even more hotels not affiliated with any major chains. The World Travel Awards are voted on by travel agents worldwide.

My focus is the hotel points world and many of the award winners are hotel members of loyalty programs. For a region like Europe I like to see what places are considered outstanding when voters are not primarily American traveler viewpoints.

Here are some of the hotel winners for Europe. This post lists hotel winners for each country with leading hotel. The list includes hotels in Hilton, Radisson, IHG, Marriott, Accor, Hyatt, Choice, Wyndham and Starwood along with several Kempinski Hotels and independent hotels. Best Western looks to be the only major hotel chain not represented in these winners.

Resorts and hotels in Turkey are one of the most popular destinations for fine hotels.

Normally I do not pay much attention to awards, but somehow I think it is useful to know that when in Belarus the Crowne Plaza Minsk is considered by travel agents to be the leading hotel in the country. A Wyndham is the top business hotel in Istanbul. A Quality Hotel in Nordic Choice is considered the top spa resort in Norway.

I linked to the hotel’s webpages, but those clever website designers for the World Travel Awards actually designed a way to automatically change my links from the hotel’s website back to the World Travel Awards webpages. That was a first for me in blogging. So the hotel links in this post go to the WTA page where you will find a link to the hotel’s website at the top of the page.

Hotel Adlon Kempinski, Berlin is by Brandenburg Gate and near the U.S. Embassy. I walked into the lobby on a snowy day February 2013 to check out the place and realizes I was not in the attire customary for this historic hotel.

  1. Some interesting choices here! I live very close to the Mandarin in London and am often inside, albeit I never stay there. It wouldn’t be near my choice for best five star in London, yet alone best hotel in Europe!
