Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall Montego Bay, Jamaica coming in 2014

The former Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica will open in 2014 as Hyatt Ziva Montego Bay, an all-inclusive resort.

The 5,000 acre property which includes a golf course had been on the market for nine years when it was purchased in April 2013 by Playa Hotels and Resorts for a reported $70 million. Initial plans included adding about 100 suites and several restaurants to the resort.

Ritz-Carlton had managed the 427-room resort property for 12 years.

Hyatt Hotels recently closed a 20% ownership stake deal with Playa Hotels and Resorts who owns 13 resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean. The $325 million partnership with Playa gives Hyatt the opportunity to rebrand and  manage six all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Hyatt’s all-inclusive resorts will operate under two brand names with Hyatt Ziva brand geared for family friendly beach resort activities and Hyatt Zilara brand offering more adult oriented activities.

Zilara it is for Kelley and me.

Hyatt will open two all-inclusive resorts in Mexico in 2013

Hyatt Zilara Cancun (currently The Royal Cancun) and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos (currently Barcelo Los Cabos) are two all-inclusive resorts scheduled to reopen in the coming months through the Playa partnership. Hyatt Zilara supposedly will be an adult oriented resort in Cancun. The links are TripAdvisor reviews for these two resorts.

Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Jamaica is the third announced hotel conversion from the Playa Hotels deal. Three more hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic are expected to open in 2014 and 2015.

  1. Using points, are the (i) resort fees with Hyatt (ii) additional fees because it’s all inclusive?

  2. Awesome!! I can’t wait. Although, I have been to a few absolutely phenomenal 5-star all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. I hope the Hyatts will be up there as well in quality, otherwise I would have a really difficult time deciding whether to stay at a Hyatt that wasn’t as nice but earns points, or a different all-inclusive resort that is amazing but does not earn points.
