Last week I wrote about the Howard Johnson Happy Monday Special rate offering a $25 gas card for reservations booked on Mondays from August 5 through September 30, 2013. Reservation must include at least one night from Sunday to Thursday to earn gas card. Eligible stays must be completed by October 3, 2013.

Since this offer may only be booked on a Monday and I wrote my post on Thursday, I did not know if the SBN rate required for this offer was an inflated room rate.
The Good News
I made a rate check for my local Howard Johnson hotels around Monterey last Thursday without the SBN gas card rate. Today I see the SBN rate is actually a 10% discount on the Best Available Rate.
Keep in mind that reservations made using the SBN $25 gas card promotion rate are prepaid, nonrefundable and no changes.
Only one gas card may be earned per hotel stay.
Howard Johnson Happy Monday $25 Gas Card Offer details
Howard Johnson hotels in Wyndham Rewards have a Happy Monday promotion for midweek stays. Simply book your reservation at Howard Johnson on a Monday during August and September using promotion code SBN to earn a $25 gas card for stays through October 3, 2013. Monday, September 30 is the last date this offer may be booked.
Midweek nights eligible for this offer are considered any night from Sunday to Thursday August 5, 2013 to October 3, 2013 in the US or Canada.
To qualify for this offer you must:
- (i) book on HoJo.com with promotion code SBN or call 1-800-I-GO-HOJO and mention code SBN;
- (ii) book the stay on Mondays between August 5, 2013 and September 30, 2013;
- (iii) stay on Sundays – Thursdays from August 5, 2013 – October 3, 2013 in the US or Canada.
- Prize will be awarded in the form of a gas gift card with a value of $25 redeemable at participating Shell, Exxon, Texaco, Chevron, Sunoco, and Gulf stations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
- The reservation requires pre-payment and is non-cancellable, non-changeable, and non-refundable.
- For stays longer than one night or for bookings with more than one room, only one gift card will be awarded per booking.
- Gift cards will be mailed to guests within two weeks of booking their stay.
- Valid postal address required at time of reservation.
- Offer valid on hojo.com and 1-800-I-GO-HOJO and is not valid on mobile website.
Rate Analysis
Howard Johnson Express in Seaside, California was $59 when I checked Thursday, August 8. The $59 rate offered 1,000 bonus Wyndham Rewards points. Wyndham sells 1,000 points for $11 to give an objective value for points.
The Happy Monday SBN code $25 gas card rate is a different rate and may not be combined with the 1,000 bonus points offer.
Happy Monday $25 Gas Card Rate is 10% less at $53.10.
Howard Johnson Express, Seaside, CA = $53.10 rate eligible for $25 gas card.
The $25 gas card is a 40% rebate on a $60 after tax room rate for this Howard Johnson Express reservation in peak season for a hotel located in the California coastal area of the Monterey Peninsula.
