Westin Riverfront Resort in Avon, Colorado consists of a hotel, Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Beaver Creek Mountain and a Starwood Vacation Property, Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas, Beaver Creek Mountain.
The Starwood resort property sits in the valley beside the Eagle River at an elevation of 7,400 feet at the base of Beaver Creek ski resort. Ski lifts are on the property to take travelers to Beaver Creek Mountain which offers 149 ski trails at elevations of 8.100 to 11,000 feet. Two weeks ago I stayed at the Westin Riverfront Villas in the off-season with a AAA rate of $116 per night. There was also an additional nightly $20 resort fee.

The parking garage is the same for the Westin Riverfront Resort hotel and Starwood Vacation Ownership Westin Mountain Villas. There is self-parking for $15 per night or valet parking for a few dollars more. Valet parking might be a good choice considering the tight spaces and convoluted pathway underneath the property. There was no parking congestion during my stay in off-season.
The villas are five floors and the hotel has more floors. The receptionist told me I was given a mountain view upgrade. I appreciated that since the other side looks out to the freeway and the northern mountains are sparsely forested.

Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas look over Eagle River to Beaver Creek Resort nestled discretely in the woods about one mile up the hillside from the town of Avon. The roads south of the river lead to Beaver Creek Village with the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch with the Ritz Carlton. Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch are gated communities with entry station personnel to check you out before they check you in.

Studio Suite
Walking into the Westin Villas studio suite room was a relief on the eighth night of a road trip where I had stayed in comfortable, but basic hotel rooms at Best Western, Comfort Suites and a Cheyenne Mountain Ranch resort room for BAcon with one of the worst positioned rooms for a window view in the gorgeous Colorado Springs mountain setting.
Westin Villas Studio Suite room has dining table, king bed, couch, chair, TV and entertainment system, balcony and chairs.
All Mod Cons
The room had a Bose radio unit and a DVD player connected to the TV.
Once I turned on the ice maker in the refrigerator freezer, rapid ice production meant I got the Stella Artois cold faster than waiting for the beer to chill in the freezer. Ice was ready by the time I finished my shower.
Full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, cabinets filled with cookware, dishes and utensils, coffee maker with coffee and tea packets, microwave and washer/dryer with soap packets.
I washed and dried eight days of laundry. There actually were also laundry facilities at every Best Western and Choice hotels I stayed on my 12-day trip. The other hotels just did not offer the convenience of the washer and dryer being in my hotel room.
Bath counter and mirrors. Toilet had sliding door on right. Shower/tub to left.
The Westin Riverfront Resort Property
The hotel property has an expensive market, restaurants and some shops for sports equipment rentals and gifts.
There are fast food places and a supermarket with normal prices within one mile of the hotel.
Cleverly, Starwood routes guests at the Villas through the Westin Vacation Gallery when you exit at ground level rather than the lower garage levels.

There is a cool map in the gallery that I played with for a few minutes. Nobody working in the room bothered me. They must have profiled me correctly at Starwood.

The setting on a sunny day when the temperature was in the low 80s made for a great swimming pool day, if that was your desire.
Westin Riverfront Resort swimming pool. The gym rooms and spa are located in the ground floor wing to the right in photo. There were many pieces of good quality fitness machines of many types.

There are several workout rooms with equipment, a Pilates Studio, kids activities center room for paid childcare. And a spa.

One of the resort restaurants was closed for remodeling and rooms were being remodeled during my stay. The month of May is the heavy spring cleaning work for these Colorado Rocky Mountain ski resorts before transitioning into summer tourism.

The Lobby
The hotel seemed pretty vacant in mid-May. Lobby photos were easy to snap without heads in view.

This stay was my first visit to Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas and the hotel resort in Avon, Colorado. I stayed higher up the mountain at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek three years ago. I visited that property again on this trip and a blog post will be coming.
The Westin Resort at Beaver Creek is a fine hotel. I enjoyed the stay and spending time in the resort setting.
