Hotel Loyalty 2013-Q1 promotions Hyatt Gold Passport Hyatt Hotels

11,000+ bonus points in 3 nights: Getting more out of Hyatt’s More Possibilities

Hyatt Gold Passport calls its first 2013 bonus points global promotion More Possibilities. Earn 3,000 bonus points for every 3 nights at Hyatt brand hotels worldwide. Maximum 45,000 bonus points after 45 nights.

Hyatt Visa card members earn 20% additional bonus points for 3,600 points per 3 nights, up to 54,000 points after 45 nights.

45 nights and earn enough points for 3 free nights at a category 4 or 5 hotel. Really? That is a lot of hotel nights for three months.

Promotion registration opens February 15. Members must register by April 30.

The Hyatt promotion registration link is supposed to go live February 15, 2013 according to the email I received from Hyatt PR.

Analysis of Hyatt’s More Possibilities and G Bonus Opportunities

I want ‘More Possibilities’ than this promotion offers.

Hyatt used to be the program where hotel specific ‘G bonus’ offers meant an additional 1,000 to 2,000 hotel points for a stay at most hotels in the Hyatt global portfolio. Most of these bonus offers were dropped in 2011, yet there are some currently posted good G Bonus offers you can earn during the More Possibilities promotion. They are nicknamed G bonuses due to the fact that many of the promotion codes start with G followed by a number. But only one of the three offers listed below starts with G.

Hyatt’s new The LA Hotel Downtown

  • Earn 2,500 points per night through May 31, 2013.
  • Special Offer Code: LA2500
  • “Book an eligible rate at The L.A. Hotel Downtown. New and existing members will earn an additional 2500 Gold Passport points per night. Please enter or mention Special Offer Code LA2500 at time of booking.”

A 3-night stay during the More Possibilities promotion earns an additional 7,500 bonus points on top of the 3,000 points or 3,600 points (Hyatt Visa card members). This can mean 11,100 Hyatt bonus points on top of the base points and elite bonus points earned.

I found AAA rates as low as $160 per night.

3,000 points after 3 nights is not a terrific loyalty promotion. Combining ‘More Possibilities’ with property specific Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points promotions definitely offers more possibilities for maximizing your Hyatt hotel stay earning from March 1 through May 31, 2013.

In addition to the G bonus, wouldn’t you also get your 1,000 points as a Diamond guest for checking in? These promotions don’t seem to require sequential nights, so booking three separate 1-night stays would increase the number of points to 14,100 for three nights in the example of LA.

I booked a non-refundable rate at The LA Downtown Hotel for only $118 a night. Unfortunately, they charge $33 for valet parking, but slightly cheaper parking can be found downtown

  • […] Loyalty Traveler also mentioned several property-specific “G” bonuses that stack with the More Possibilities promotion. The most lucrative is the new L.A. Hotel Downtown, which was recently acquired and is in the process of re-branding to a Hyatt Regency. […]
