Loyalty Traveler Analysis
IHG 2-for-1 rates are generally based on the Best Flexible Rate (BAR) and not some inflated higher rate just for the promotion. I booked a 2-for-1 rate in Barcelona last month to reduce the room rate from 132EUR per night to 66 EUR per night. This is 50% off BAR when most discounts like prepaid, nonrefundable Advance Purchase or AAA rates discount up to 20% off BAR rate.
I assume the China 2-for-1 will offer the same kind of rate savings.
