Accor Points to Avios Transfer

Le Club Accorhotels points can only be exchanged in increments of 4,000 points.

4,000 Le Club Accorhotels points = 2,000 Avios

British Airways - Executive Club

British Airways – Executive Club

  • 2 Le Club Accorhotels points = 1 Avios point

Iberia - Iberia Plus

Iberia – Iberia Plus

  • 2 Le Club Accorhotels points = 5 Avios points

This is an interesting discrepancy between the 2 Accor points to 1 Avios point for British Airways and 2 Accor points for 5 Avios points with Iberia Airlines.

One Mile at a Time has a June 2012 post explaining why redeeming Avios with Iberia can be better than redeeming Avios with British Airways for lower award taxes.

If your earning preference is set to Miles, your points convert after every stay at the rates you showed above – no need to hit the 4,000 point minimum.

Depending on what you spend on your stay, you will be better off ignoring this promotion and setting your earning preference to Iberia Plus and not Avios, since you benefit from the substantially higher transfer rate which might outweigh the bonus from selecting Avios.

You also need to have an account to get this bonus, NOT a BAEC or Iberia account. Only a UK resident can have an account. Avios in an account can be moved to BAEC or Iberia via Combine My Avios, though.

In my last paragraph above, I meant to precede it with “I think that…”!

@Raffles – Thanks for the details on Avios. I have to say that yesterday was the first time I even looked at and it did appear to be a UK-based loyalty program with the partners I saw listed.

I read on FlyerTalk about Americans faking a residential address in the UK to open accounts and allow the transfer possibilities between Iberia and British Airways Executive Club.

I came across this promotion while researching airline partners for hotel programs.

Looks like it is more limited than I thought.

You can fake an address for this promo with no problems. They only look to match date of birth when moving avios across to a BA or Iberia account.

I will be staying for work, they are paying for the hotel at probably a reduced rate. Can I still earn miles from this?
