Wyndham Rewards offers up a big scoop bonus with quadruple points or miles for your second to fifth stays this summer. In most cases earning points will be the better value due to the high points-to-miles transfer rate with Wyndham Rewards where 10 points = 4 miles.

Loyalty Traveler Promotion Analysis
This Wyndham Rewards promotion gets my highest Loyalty Traveler 5-star rating. This is a great rebate in hotel points for budget travelers staying at common road trip hotel brands like Howard Johnson, Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada and Travelodge.
Quadruple points means 40 points per US$1 on your second, third, fourth and fifth hotel stays. You can also earn this bonus on up to three rooms per stay.
All Wyndham hotel brands worldwide earn 10 points per US$1, except Hawthorn Suites, an extended stay hotel brand earns 5 points per US$1.
Wyndham Worldwide is mostly Wyndham budget USA
Wyndham Rewards has more hotel brands than any other chain. Wyndham Worldwide is the largest hotel chain globally with over 7,000 hotels, yet more than 90% of the hotels are in the USA.
Redeeming Wyndham Rewards points for hotel stays
Most hotels in the U.S. and Canada are in four tiers for hotel nights using points.
- Tier 1 = 6,000 points
- Tier 2 = 10,000 points
- Tier 3 = 14,000 points
- Tier 4 = 16,000 points
All hotels in U.S. and Canada are in Tiers 1, 2, 3 and 4 for Wyndham brands except Wyndham, Dream, Night and Tryp brands.
This means all the Ramada, Howard Johnson, Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Baymont Inn, Microtel Inn, Wingate, Knights Inn and Hawthorn Suites will be 16,000 points or less per night.
Note: Travelodge in Canada does not participate in Wyndham Rewards.
Earning 40 points per $1 earns a free hotel night with a small level of hotel spend during this promotion period.
- Tier 1 = 6,000 points ($150 in spend at 4x points earns 6,000 points)
- Tier 2 = 10,000 points ($250 in spend)
- Tier 3 = 14,000 points ($350 in spend)
- Tier 4 = 16,000 points ($400 in spend)
Tier 5, 6 and 7 are Wyndham, Tryp, Dream and Night hotels in the US and Canada. Wyndham also has its different tiers from 15,000 points to 45,000 points.
International properties have different reward night tiers.
- 6,000 points
- 10,000 points
- 15,000 points
- 20,000 points
- 25,000 points
- 30,000 points
- 45,000 points
For example, Hong Kong has two Ramada Hotels at 15,000 points per night.
Ecuador has four Howard Johnson Hotels at 10,000 or 15,000 or 20,000 points per night.
Germany has more than 40 Ramada Hotels with 8 of them at 6,000 points for a free night. This 4x points promotion earns 6,000 points with $150 in spend. That is a great rebate on hotel spend.
4x Miles Earners
Earning miles with Wyndham Rewards is a little trickier analysis.
General rule of thumb is earning 4x points is the better way to earn more miles, except for a few instances.
Wyndham Rewards Airline Partners
- Aeromexico
- Aeroplan
- Air Berlin(500 miles at any brand)
- American Airlines
- Amtrak
- Czech Airlines(500 miles at any brand)
- Delta Air Lines
- Frontier Airlines
- Miles & More(500 miles per Ramada or Wyndham stay)
- Southwest Airlines(600 points per stay)
- Turkish Airlines(500 miles at Ramada, Howard Johnson, Hawthorn or Wyndham)
- United Airlines
- US Airways
For those airlines without a specific description above (see below for Chinese Airlines earn rates), the earning rate depends on hotel brand.
Earn 2 miles per USD$1 per stay at Wingate by Wyndham, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont, Microtel, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn.
Earn 500 miles per stay at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Hawthorn Suites.
Chinese Airlines have their own earning structure.
Hotels in China
Earn 800 km (500 miles) for stays at Howard Johnson, Ramada and Days Inn located in China.
Earn 400 km (250 miles) for stays at Super 8 in China.
Hotels outside of China
Earn 800 km (500 miles) for stays at Wyndham and Hawthorn Suites.
Earn 3 km (2 miles) per USD$1 for all other Wyndham Rewards brands.
The Math for Miles Earners
Earn 2 miles per USD$1 per stay at Wingate by Wyndham, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont, Microtel, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn.
Earn 500 miles per stay at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Hawthorn Suites.
Assume you are collecting American, Delta, United or US Airways miles.
Spend $200 at a Ramada Inn (on 2nd to 5th stays) and you can earn 8,000 points with 4x points or 1,600 miles (8 miles per $1 with 4x miles).
Wyndham Rewards points-to-miles exchange rate is 8,000 points = 3,200 miles. Every 10 points is worth 4 miles.
You will earn twice as many miles by choosing 4x points and exchanging points into miles at a later date as long as you meet the 8,000 points threshold. This applies to all Wyndham brands, except Hawthorn Suites.
Hawthorn Suites is the exception to this rule since this brand only earns 5 points per $1. If your 4x stay is at a Hawthorn Suites, then you can choose miles and you will receive the miles directly at the same rate you would earn with a points-to-miles exchange.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts earn 500 miles per stay. $200 in hotel spend earns 2,000 miles or 8,000 points. Unless your hotel stay is under $125 at a Wyndham, then you are better off choosing 4x points.
The past two days I have seen a child with a huge ice cream cone. I like the Wyndham Rewards sweeter image for this promotion.
