American Express Membership Rewards program members earn 1,000 Membership Rewards bonus points at Starwood Hotels Four Points, Aloft and Element brands for stays August 10-November 15, 2011 charged to an American Express card in the Membership Rewards program.

Note: SPG American Express card is not eligible for this offer since it earns SPG points and not Membership Rewards points.

Promotion registration is required at http://www.starwoodhotels.com/1000MR.

Must be a cardmember of the U.S. American Express Membership Rewards program and Starwood Preferred Guest hotel loyalty program.

American Express Membership Rewards points will be received as an SPG email Bonus Points e-certificate 4 to 6 weeks after the promotion ends (December 2011-January 2012). Bonus Points Certificates must be redeemed online at membershiprewards.com/BonusPointsCert before the expiration date posted on the certificate.

Starwood Participating Hotels in Aloft, Element and Four Points brands.

This promotion may be combined with other concurrent Starwood promotion offers like:

SPG 2x or 3x points for stays Sep 6 – Dec 18, 2011. Double points for all stays at participating hotels and triple points for any stay with a Sunday or Thursday night. About 25% of Starwood Hotels opted out, so check non-participating hotels list carefully. Loyalty Traveler post August 28.

Double dip for Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards points and SPG points by earning 1,000 Rapid Rewards points per stay at Sheraton, Four Points, Aloft and Element hotels in North America from August 1-December 15, 2011 in addition to normal earning for Starpoints.     If I had a qualifying stay using a Membership rewards-earning card on August 19th, but registered for the promotion on August 26th, would I receive the MR bonus points for that stay?

    now the question is, should we pay with SPG amex or MR amex? Unless it’s a cheap one night stay, SPG amex is more bang for a buck.

    Last night I checked the link after reading @oneeyejack comment.

    It worked. I registered for the promotion and received my confirmation email from SPG.

    This morning I tried the link again after reading @Bacc comment. The promotion does not appear on the SPG page.

    I even went to other blog posts on this offer and the links do not work.

    Looks like SPG did something to the promotion web page.

    @tpat – Terms & Conditions of promotion do not state if registration required before hotel stay to be eligible.

    SPG tends to be pretty lenient with promotions on counting stays retroactively during a promotion period.

    Since the certificates are issued after promotion ends I think that an eligible stay prior to registration will probably count.

    You should call SPG to get an official ruling on the issue.
