Two Blogs Giving Away 10,000 Hyatt points this week

FrequentFlyerBonuses.com and TheVacationGals.com are each giving away prizes of 10,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points with both sweepstakes ending this week.  These offers are promoting the Hyatt Gold Passport and Hyatt Resorts Facebook pages with the Hyatt Great 10K promotion for 10,000 bonus points after 5 Hyatt brand hotel nights.

FrequentFlyerBonuses.com is the website run by Patrick Sojka in Calgary, Alberta. I have used this website for many years to keep up on current airline and hotel loyalty promotions. Patrick does a great job of keeping a promotion database. I personally prefer FFB over MileMaven.com and PointMaven.com. I did a head-to-head analysis of the offers on both sites when planning my Chicago hotel stays last month and FFB provided a much better list of current hotel loyalty promotions than PointMaven.com.

The sweepstakes entry deadline for the FFB Hyatt points giveaway is 11:59pm MST. Contest is open to Hyatt Gold Passport members worldwide, except Quebec, who are 18 or older.

Loyalty Traveler

I wonder why no hotel loyalty program has ever offered me hotel points or free nights to give away on Loyalty Traveler blog?

Update Nov 7 three hours later: Hyatt Gold Passport generously donated 50,000 points through Loyalty Traveler for the Passports with Purpose 2009 raffle. My previous statement isn’t exactly accurate. Sorry to forget you Hyatt!

I write one of the most widely read travel blogs written by an individual. My entire blog is about hotel loyalty programs and their promotions.

An internet studies professor from a university in Australia told me last year the great difficulty I face as Loyalty Traveler is my blog is marketing hotel marketing programs outside the hotel industry-controlled interface.  The hotel loyalty programs are themselves a marketing program business who want to maintain control of their own message.

Loyalty Traveler dirties up the images between the hotel- and loyalty-marketers and consumers.

Loyalty Traveler is ranked # 8 on Technorati.com Top 100 Travel Blogs for November 7, 2010.

Loyalty Traveler had over 30,000 unique visitors and more than 50,000 visits to my blog in the past month.

    No worries, Ric – – the information and analysis you provide is worth a lot more than any points/free night promotion/giveaway a hotel chain would throw your way!

    I appreciate your unbiased and comprehensive (who the heck writes about Goldpoints Plus or Best Western Rewards!) approach to the various hotel loyalty programs.

    Your blog is full of important, useful information and the benefit from that information outweighs any “chance” to win a few thousand points here and there.

    Thanks loyal readers.

    I really do not want to spend time running free night and points contests on Loyalty Traveler.

    Just wondering why no offers come my way when they seem to hit every small town blog across the country and a lot of big blogs too.

    Now a new computer bag and suitcase and DSLR camera are items I really need for Loyalty Traveler.

    If any electronics store or company wants to donate a projector to Loyalty Traveler so I can take my seminar slideshows on the road, now that would be an offer I would promote dearly for the sponsoring company at my events.

    I am actually feeling rather good, but rather sad after reading the annual Technorati report “State of the Blogosphere” this morning.

    I feel good because I am in the top 10% of bloggers by most metrics.

    I feel bad because:

    “Overall, 18% of bloggers reported a non-salary income from their blog in 2010, and the mean income reported was $9,985. Even among full-time blogging Corporates, the mean income was well below $20,000, indicating that very few bloggers are making a living in the industry, but may instead view it as a slightly subsidized hobby.”
