Priority Club PointBreaks are probably the best hotel loyalty program reward night value available at 5,000 points for a free night. Some of these hotels will run over $200 per night on some dates. PointBreaks rewards reduce the reward cost for a 30,000 points per night InterContinental Hotel to just 5,000 points. That can be quite a points break for an extended stay.
You can buy 10,000 points from Priority Club for $125 or as low as $230 for 20,000 points. There is a 40,000 points purchase limit per 12 months. You can often earn 5,000 points on a single IHG hotel stay if you sign up for the myriad of promotions available for stay bonuses.
The current list favors the USA with 77 hotels and only 49 hotels for the rest of the world.
This list was just posted in the past 48 hours. As allocated rooms are booked, hotels are removed from the list.
I took a look at the previous PointBreaks list last week which had 79 U.S. hotels when it came out August 2, 2010 and there were fewer than ten hotels left in the U.S. for reward nights through October 30. That list has been replaced with the new hotels available for 5,000 point reward nights through December 30. This is an 80% discount from the normal 25,000 points per night for a Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, or high tier Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
Here is the complete PointBreaks list from October 4, 2010 for hotel stays through December 30, 2010.
