Club Carlson Triple Points for March 2015 is a targeted email offer sent to Club Carlson newsletter subscribers with the subject line, “We have a private offer waiting for you.” Triple points is a targeted offer for eligible stays from March 2 to March 31.

Club Carlson Triple Points March 2015

I do not currently have a stay planned in March with Club Carlson, but I may make an effort for one more 3-night stay with this offer.

Assume I can find a room rate under $80 per night room rate for a 3-night stay. This offer is good for stays through March 31, but I will want a 3-night stay by March 29 to take advantage of Club Carlson’s Extend Your Stay 30,000 bonus points.

Club Carlson UC Davis

Club Carlson Points Earned:

Country Inn & Suites Dixon, California UC Davis area

Friday, March 20 to Monday, March 23, 2015

AAA rate = $77.10 per night.

  • $231.30 x 60 points/$1 = 13,878 points
  • Extend Your Stay 3-night stay bonus = 30,000 points
  • Club Carlson Gold Elite 35% bonus points = 4,857 points
  • Club Carlson Visa payment 10 points/$1 bonus points =  2,313 points.

Country Inn & Suites Dixon, CA 3-night stay for $263.68 after tax earns

51,048 Club Carlson points.

That is enough points for a Club Carlson category 6 hotel 2-night reward stay in London in peak tourist season July 2015.

Radisson Mercer London July 2015

Two night stay for Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street London in July is 50,000 Club Carlson points for a Club Carlson Visa card member or $1,246.88 for two nights in Superior Room.

Club Carlson Rad Blu Mercer July 2015

Excellent redemption value for Club Carlson points in London and Europe is why I might plan another 3-night stay in March 2015 for triple points + 30,000 Extend Your Stay bonus points.

On another note, when I checked Paris hotels for Club Carlson free nights, I found most hotels in Paris are currently unavailable for free nights for all of July and August 2015.

Check your email for Club Carlson – “We have a private offer waiting for you.”

Club Carlson Triple Points + Extend Your Stay combine for one of the best rebate values on hotel stays we will likely see in 2015.

The opportunity to earn 7,500 miles with two Radisson hotel stays, earn 3,000 bonus points for booking these two stays using the Club Carlson mobile app and earn 60 points per dollar for hotel spend on the two stays is an intriguing analysis for stacking Club Carlson promotions on stays completed in the next two months.

Three Stacking Club Carlson Offers

1. Earn 3,000 points for up to 3 stays booked and completed by November 16, 2014 using the Club Carlson mobile app. This is the earliest promotion expiration date. Loyalty Traveler – 9,000 points for three Club Carlson mobile app bookings Sep 8 to Nov 16, 2014

2. Earn 7,500 bonus miles with American Airlines AAdvantage or Aeroplan after two Radisson Hotel brand stays by December 15, 2014. This is a brand specific promotion for the Radisson brand worldwide. Loyalty Traveler – Club Carlson 7,500 AAdvantage or Aeroplan miles Sep 15-Dec 15, 2014

3. Earn Triple Points at participating Club Carlson hotels in Americas for stays with check-in Sundays through Thursdays and check-out Mondays through Fridays by November 30, 2014. Earn triple points for Sundays to Thursdays. Loyalty Traveler – Club Carlson Triple Points BIZTIME3 rate for weekday nights to Nov 30

Promotions 1 and 2 can be earned with two stays at any Radisson Hotel worldwide. Promotion 3 is a special rate offer for triple points that may be combined with 1 and 2 at specific hotels in the Americas.

Analysis #1

Where I am coming from these days with my travel is focusing on trying to get by with around 10 paid nights every quarter of the year and try to earn 5 to 10 free nights every quarter of the year.

Offers from SPG and Hyatt that take 20 paid nights in a quarter are road warrior incentives to attract the big business spenders. I don’t have those kind of travel needs or budget.

This final quarter of 2014 has me looking closely at IHG Rewards Club where I can earn two free nights anywhere in the world with 3 paid nights with two of those 3 nights being a Holiday Inn Saturday night stay. That is my number one promotion completion goal for Q4-2014.

Club Carlson looks like another low budget, high value offer where two Radisson Hotel stays can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles + 6,000 Club Carlson points + 60 points per dollar at specific Radisson Hotels.

Analysis #1 crunches the numbers to get an idea of what kind of hotel stay rebate I can get. I value my cash too much and this offer is not lucrative enough to book hotel stays I don’t need. My choice of hotel is truly based on picking a hotel where I might need to stay in the next two months.

Radisson Hotel Baton Rouge Louisiana

Sunday, October 5

  • BIZTIME3 Rate = $105 ($118.65 after tax).
  • AAA Hot Deal Rate = $84  ($94.92 after tax).
  • Both rates have same cancellation policy.

Assume I book using mobile app and I am registered for 7,500 bonus American Airlines miles after two Radisson stays.

BIZTIME3 Rate earns $105 x 60 points/$1 = 6,300 points.

AAA Hot Deal rate = 84 x 20 points/$1 = 1,680 points.

BIZTIME3 rate earns 4,620 extra points.

An extra $23.73 for 4,620 points is $5.14 per 1,000 points.

That is a decent deal for Club Carlson points, but I could take it or leave it. This analysis kind of indicates that there is no reason to go for a Radisson Hotel on the triple points list. The real value of this promotion is in the 7,500 miles for two Radisson stays and 3,000 bonus points for mobile app booking.

Radisson Baton Rouge

Two stays Sunday Oct 5 and Tuesday, Oct 7

BIZTIME3 = $105 per night ($238 after tax for two stays)

Club Carlson Earnings

  • 7,500 AAdvantage miles ($75 to $150 in value)
  • 6,000 Club Carlson mobile app booking points.
  • 12,600 points with triple points bonus.
  • 3,570 credit card (10 points/$1) and 35% Gold elite bonus points (7 points/$1) for Club Carlson Visa members paying with card.

Total for $238 in hotel spend = 18,600 Club Carlson points + 7,500 miles for any Club Carlson member or 22,170 Club Carlson points + 7,500 miles for member paying with Club Carlson Visa.

The rebate value for two hotel nights booked as two separate stays is about equivalent to the cost of the hotel nights. You can book a Club Carlson category 2 hotel reward night for 15,000 points or a category 3 hotel reward night for 28,000 points.

Analysis # 2

Radisson Hotel Ontario Airport Sunday, November 9

BIZTIME3 rate is $106 for this hotel night. An even better deal is to pay $113 and get upgraded to Concierge Room with breakfast buffet for two included in the rate.

Radisson Ontario 3x rate

BIZTIME3 triple points rate is $106 per night. For only $7 more you can upgrade to Concierge room for the night. The major advantage of that rate is breakfast buffet for 2 adults included.

Assume no Club Carlson elite status.

$113 night with triple points = 6,780 points.

Mobile app booking = 3,000 bonus points.

This hotel stay for $128.61 after tax earns 9,780 points ($50 to $70 value) and includes breakfast buffet for two.

As Club Carlson Gold with Club Carlson Visa credit card payment, this hotel stays earns an additional 17 points/$1 for 1,921 points.

Now assume you do this hotel stay twice and also get 7,500 AA miles.

Or choose a different LA area hotel like Radisson Whittier at $119 for Tuesday November 11.

This is $131 after tax.  For $260 in hotel spend you earn 13,920 points on $232 in hotel rate spend. You earn 7,500 American Airlines miles. You earn 6,000 mobile app booking points.

$260 earns 20,000 Club Carlson points + 7,500 AA miles. This is just one example of how three stackable promotions give a Club Carlson rebate equivalent to the cost of two hotel nights.

Analysis #3

In this example I will ignore the Radisson promotion for AA miles and focus on triple points and booking bonus only. Country Inns & Suites Ventura, California is a good road trip hotel when traveling between northern and southern California. The location is out of the LA freeway traffic nightmare for a good coastal place to stop for the night after a day at Disneyland and heading north or a good place to stop when heading south before hitting LA.

Country Inn Ventura

Over Veteran’s Day weekend, this hotel has $71 triple points rate.

  • 3,000 bonus points mobile booking.
  • 4,260 triple points
  • Gold elite paying with Club Carlson Visa $71 x 17 points/$1 = 1,207 points.

$78 hotel night earns 7,260 to 8,400 bonus points. That is a $40 to $57 rebate value on a $78 hotel room night.

Bottom line is there are some good value hotel stay opportunities with these Club Carlson stackable promotions. Two stays at Radisson Hotels booked through the mobile app earn 6,000 bonus points + 7,500 frequent flyer miles. Those are good value on their own. Find a triple points hotel and the rebate value can potentially be more than the cost to stay at the Radisson Hotels.

Business Time Triple Points is the third Club Carlson offer that can be stacked with two other offers. BIZTIME3 is a Club Carlson triple points rate for weekday nights stays at participating hotels in the Americas to November 30.

Club Carlson Triple Points BIZTIME3 rate for weekday nights to Nov 30 applies to stays with hotel check-in on Sunday through Thursday and check-out Monday through Friday. Not really clear from the terms how bonus points work if you stay through the weekend?

This offer earns 60 points per dollar for eligible stays.

Rate code BIZTIME3 is a higher rate than otherwise available. The hotel I checked was only $17 more per night than the lowest available rate. Other hotels might be $50 more per night. I give a value of $5 to $7 per 1,000 Club Carlson points. A $150 hotel rate earns 6,000 bonus points so these are worth $30 to $42 in my estimated value. I would not pay more than $30 to $42 extra per night in this case. If the hotel is available for $110 without triple points, then I might skip the BIZRATE3 offer.

Hilton HHonors 2014 Q3 double and triple points promotion prematurely launched last week when there was a promotion registration page. I registered for the new Triple Your Trip promotion and wrote about the 2014 Q3 offer seven days ago.

Loyalty Traveler: Hilton HHonors 2x and 3x points August 1 to October 31, 2014 (July 9, 2014).

HHonors 2014 Q3 registration

You are registered for Hilton HHonors 2014 Q3 Triple Your Trip promotion August 1 to October 31, 2014

The next day Hilton HHonors removed the 2014 Q3 promotion registration page. For most of the past week the went to a ‘404 Not Found’ page. Now the link redirects to a message “Hilton HHonors promotion coming soon”.

HHonors promotion soon

Hilton HHonors promotion coming soon page currently shows when clicking link.

Basic Information on Hilton HHonors Double and Triple Points

Hilton HHonors 2x and 3x points August 1 to October 31, 2014 gives 30 points per dollar earning for hotels stays on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night and 20 points per dollar for stays on Monday to Thursday nights.

HHonors 2x/3x Promotion FAQ shows how bonus points are calculated on this page from the 2013 same offer. This is the only link that currently works.

The big question for HHonors members is which hotels have opted out of this offer? There is a link to nonparticipating hotels with the message ‘Coming Soon”.

Hopefully Hilton will get the promotion registration page back online soon with a list of nonparticipating hotels. I suspect the missing link delaying this 2x/3x offer is the list of non-participating hotels. Until we know which hotels opt out, this offer is hard to evaluate. Triple points is a high value bonus from HHonors – if you are staying weekend nights at a hotel participating in the promotion.

Hilton HHonors launched its 2013-Q3 promotion this week for triple points on Friday, Saturday and Sunday or double points for stays on Monday through Thursday nights.

There are about 650 hotels in the USA not participating, so check this Hilton hotel exclusion list carefully. Fewer than 50 hotels in the rest of the world have opted out.

HHonors promotion registration is required at before your first stay.

The average nightly rate for your stay is used to determine points. This can play in your favor if you pay for cheap weekend nights on the same stay as one or two expensive midweek nights since you will get triple points on a higher average rate for weekend nights or it could work against you if you have a cheap weekend night on the same stay as several expensive weekday nights.

Regardless, this is a good bonus points offer when staying at a participating Hilton brand hotel. The exclusion list of 20% of US Hilton brand hotels is the main drawback to the promotion. Check the nonparticipating hotel list carefully before counting your points.

The HHonors promotion FAQ explains how double and triple points are calculated.

US Net Folio: $1,038.38 x 10 pts per $1 = 10,383 BASE Points
10,383 BASE Points / 7* = 1,483 Average Points Per Night
*(replace 7 with total # of nights of the stay within the Promotion Period)

  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (3 nights) will receive Triple Points
  • Triple  Points is always 2 x BASE. Therefore, 2 x (BASE) 1,483 = 2,966
  • 2,966 (triple points value) x 3 (total nights that are eligible for triple points) = 8,898 (total triple points for 3 nights)

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (4 nights) will receive Double Points
  • Double Points is always 1X BASE. Therefore, 1 x (BASE) 1,483 = 1,483
  • 1,483 X 4 (total nights eligible for double points) =  5,932 (total double points for 4 nights)

8,898 (total triple points) + 5,932 (total double points) = 14,830

HHonors promotion FAQ

The main point to understand is triple and double points only apply to 10 base points per dollar.

Double points = 20 points per dollar.

Triple points = 30 points per dollar.

HHonors Points & Points earners receive an additional bonus of 5 points per dollar.

HHonors Points & Miles earners receive 20 or 30 points per dollar and miles based on the regular earning rate for miles.

Choice Privileges triple points starting with your second stay at any Choice Hotels brand worldwide for members in USA, US territories and Canada on stays from December 13 to February 20, 2013. There is a limit of 50,000 bonus points, but at 20 bonus points per dollar that is at least $2,500 in spend and will not be a concern for most travelers.

Choice Privileges Triple Points registration is required.

Seven Choice Hotels brands earn 30 points per dollar with triple points promotion (10 base points per dollar + 20 bonus points per dollar).

  • Comfort Inn
  • Comfort Suites
  • Quality Inn
  • Clarion
  • Sleep Inn
  • Cambria Suites
  • Ascend Collection

Four Choice Hotels brands earn 15 points per dollar with triple points promotion (5 base points per dollar + 10 bonus points per dollar).

  • MainStay Suites
  • Suburban Suites
  • EconoLodge
  • Rodeway Inn

Elite Platinum and Diamond members earn an additional 100 bonus points per stay booked through These bonus points do not count toward the 50,000 bonus points promotion limit.

Eligible bookings include stays booked at or 800.4CHOICE.

Members may also book through a travel agent or corporate online booking system.

This can be a good value promotion for either the extended stay guest or the frequent stay guest. The main thing is to be sure and book a cheap first stay if your travel plans will take you to a hotel where you will have a few hundred dollars in spend.

There are some desirable vacation properties in the Ascend Collection and Choice Hotels with over 5,000 properties in the USA, has more hotels in the USA than any brand except Wyndham Hotels. Choice Privileges is a program to keep in mind if you are taking a road trip and need roadside lodging.

Assume you have a stay at a Clarion where you expect to spend $800. In this case you should book a $50 to $60 hotel night at a Choice Hotels brand prior to your high spend stay.

Clarion $800 stay earns 8,000 points normally.

Spend $60 for a first stay so the $800 Clarion stay earns triple points.

Stay 1: Quality Inn $60 earns 600 points. Check in and leave. You do not even need to stay the night to make this a qualifying stay if you check-in.

Stay 2: Clarion stay at $800 earns 24,000 points.

16,600 points for $60 is a good investment since this is sufficient for two low season hotel nights in Paris, London and many international locations where rooms rates run $200 per night.

Bottom line: Choice Privileges triple points is a good promotion for midscale and budget hotels. The recurring 8,000 points for two stays Choice Privileges promotion is a great deal for hotel one-nighters. This triple points offer has more benefit for the extended stay and higher spending guest.

Best Western Rewards next month offers up the kind of hotel loyalty promotion I really dislike with Fall12 for double or triple points. Triple points is a great offer of 30 points per $1 in hotel spend for a stay at a Best Western hotel booked online at The part I dislike is the bonus points are only earned for every other stay.

Fall12 Terms and Conditions

  • Triple points (30 points/$1 including base points) for a stay booked online at
  • Double points (20 points/$1 including base points) for a stay booked through other BestWestern channels.
  • Stay between September 23 and November 18, 2012. A stay that overlaps these dates will earn the bonus points of rthe entire stay. Example: November 15-20 will earn bonus points for the entire stay (if it is otherwise eligible).
  • Best Western Rewards non-elite members may earn the Fall12 bonus points on 2nd and 4th stays.
  • Best Western Rewards elite members may earn the Fall12 bonus points on 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th stays.
  • Earn a one time 1,000 bonus points if first two stays are paid using Best Western Rewards MasterCard.
