Best Western Rewards brings back last year’s promotion for a $10 Best Western Hotels travel card earned every hotel stay worldwide Dec 1, 2017 – Jan 31, 2018. Best Western Rewards member promotion registration required.
This is potentially great value if you are a BWR frequent guest or even a casual traveler who finds yourself needing hotels during holiday travel season.
Last year I earned a couple of $10 Best Western travel cards for Best Western hotel stays in December and February. Fulfillment of the travel card is simply an email with a redemption code number.
I learned from experience some of the drawbacks of the Best Western loyalty promotion on subsequent stays in Europe.
1. $10 Best Western travel card card can not be redeemed on advance purchase, prepaid rates. Many hotels will have an advance purchase rate over $10 per night less than a flexible rate eligible for Best Western travel card redemption. This diminishes the value of the $10 gift card credit, if you could and would have booked an advance purchase rate for the same hotel stay.
2. $10 Best Western travel card expires 120 days of issuance.
I had plans for using my gift cards in 2017.
For places I traveled with Best Western hotels, even $20 off discount rate turned out not to be the best hotel deal available. I did not stay at Best Western hotels frequently enough to get redemption value from my earned Best Western travel card credits.
2. A term of the previous $10 gift card promotion listed on the $10 e-certificate email, but not in the actual FAQ or Terms of the Best Western promotion page, is the Best Western travel card must be presented at check-in. Not sure if this requirement remains to present gift card(s) at check-in term appears in the current promotion e-certificate emails.
In Kaunas, Lithuania my $10 e-certificates were rejected by the manager of the Best Western hotel when I tried to redeem my credits at check-out. I was told they needed to verify validity of the e-certificates with Phoenix headquarters first. It was 1:30 in the morning in Phoenix with the time difference.
I ended up never redeeming any of the $10 e-certificates before they expired I earned from hotel stays during the previous Best Western promotions .
USA Road Trip Value
Potentially this offer can be a good deal, especially for a USA road trip during the holidays, if you find Best Western hotels are comparably priced to other lodging options in places you go.
If you have separate trips spaced a few weeks apart, then the $10 credits you earn on the first trip can be redeemed for a hotel stay on a subsequent night within 120 days. In theory, pretty simple for a straight-forward lodging rebate from Best Western Rewards.
