Predicting Thursday Nov 16 will be my SJC-AMS ticket purchase date

Friday Nov 10 turned out to be the day I saw the perfect airline ticket deal for me when San Francisco to Amsterdam was $383 round trip and San Jose to Amsterdam was $416 on British Airways with AARP discount fares for dates I want to travel in February 2018.

I booked Amsterdam hotels with points and free nights, but my hesitation in buying $800 in airline tickets was I already purchased several airline tickets for December travel on this month’s Diner’s Club bill, plus my travel expenses from two weeks in October spent in Europe are on this month’s bill.

Monday Nov 13 starts a new Diner’s Club billing cycle and I hoped the discount tickets to Amsterdam would be around until Nov 13. That deal went away Friday afternoon. I did not even get around to posting the sale before it was gone.

Turns out this sale to Amsterdam was at least the third consecutive week Oneworld attacked Delta/SkyTeam with winter discount ticket prices to France, Italy and the Netherlands.

Thu Nov 2 – Oneworld $369-$436 LAX/SFO/SJC to Amsterdam, France, Italy.

Wed Oct 25 – Aug 2018 $414-$514 many cities to France, Italy Oneworld.

While it is hard to predict airline fare sales, I will be keeping my eyes open for another Oneworld attack this week on SkyTeam airports in Amsterdam, France and Italy.

If ticket prices drop down to $400 again with British Airways AARP discount prices this coming week, I am ready to buy.

My Google Flights fare alerts are set.

Keeping my fingers crossed British Airways/Oneworld are predictable and we see another ticket sale from the San Francisco Bay Area to Amsterdam again next week.

My Amsterdam hotel nights are already reserved.

  1. Hello Ric – thanks for providing the great articles about cheap fares from the Bay Area. Where do you park when you depart from Oakland airport? Are there cheap parking lots nearby? Thanks!

  2. I’m rooting for you on the 16th! Can I ask what attracts you to Amsterdam in February? Having spent a lot of quality time with your Amsterdam Hotel Rewards Map, I trust your advice. Thanks
