Hilton Honors former category 2 hotels still offer reward nights at 10,000 points per night on most nights. Hilton’s March 2017 shift to a dynamic reward nights system correlated to room rates means 32 hotels offer reward nights at varying points levels in a range from 8,000 points to 14,000 points for standard rewards. There are also two new hotels opened in Lublin, Poland and Voronez, Russia since the dissolution of Honors hotel reward categories with reward rates from 11,000 to 14,000 points.

Still, category 1 hotels at 5,000 points and category 2 hotels at 10,000 points are the most stable rates with the smallest points deviation for free nights of all Hilton Honors reward nights.

Hilton Honors also offers premium rewards for higher room types, including suites, at higher than standard reward night rates. Prices tend to be far higher than the 8,000 to 14,000 reward level range for premium rooms.

The impact of Hilton Honors new system also has advantages. Using Hilton ‘Flexible Dates’ function allows a quick search of any specific hotel’s reward night rates and published rates. Some hotels are priced lower in 2017 for some dates than they have been in several years. For example, San Francisco Hilton was 50,000 points per night for standard rewards in 2010, yet there are dates in 2017 with Hilton Honors reward rates at 34,000 points and other dates at 60,000 points.

Hilton Garden Inn Vienna South, Austria is a hotel priced at 10,000 points per night in November 2017. Hilton Honors elite members qualify for 5th night free reward stays, dropping the reward night rate to 8,000 points and total points to 40,000 points for five nights.

  1. What is changing about Hilton Honors award redemptions? Will it now cost me more Points to redeem?
While a reward night can still be booked the same way it always has been, we’re now introducing a Points slider to give our Members more flexibility to use nearly any combination of Points and money. In addition, the pricing of award redemptions is now more flexible. That means when our hotel rates are lower – during off-peak periods, for instance – our Point redemption price can go lower than before. Additionally, we are currently using the hotel’s peak redemption price from the old model as the continued maximum threshold for redemptions using Points & Money Rewards™. For example, a Category 10 previously topped out at 95,000 Points, and in late February 2017, those hotels will still not require any more Points than that.
