1,000 AAdvantage or Aeroplan miles for Choice Hotels summer stays

Earn 1,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles this summer (until Aug 15) or 1,000 Air Canada Aeroplan miles (until July 31, 2017) for each Choice Hotels stay. This can be an economical route to earning frequent flyer miles now that 2017 American Airlines tickets result in far fewer AAdvantage miles.

This a Choice Privileges 4x miles limited time offer. Choice Hotels stays normally earn 250 miles.

There is no need to register for these offer. Simply change your Choice Privileges account earning preference to airline miles and include your AAdvantage or Aeroplan frequent flyer number.

Alternatively, there is also the recurring promotion for 8,000 Choice Privileges points every two stays until July 31. This promotion requires registration.

Loyalty Traveler – Choice Privileges 8,000 points for 2 stays May 11-July 31, 2017.

If you choose to earn Choice Privileges points, you will not earn airline miles or if you choose airline miles, you will not earn points for your hotel stays. You may change your earning preference between points and miles for different Choice Hotels stays to maximize each offer to the particular stay. Low spend stays favor airline miles.

Best Western Rewards also offers 1,000 miles per stay (normally 250 miles) for stays through July 2.

Loyalty Traveler – Earn 1,000 AAdvantage miles per Best Western stay May 1-July 2, 2017

These are good opportunities to earn 1,000 airline miles for low cost hotel stays over the next couple months when many travelers are on the road and simply desire a cheap overnight hotel stay with some hotel spend rebate potential.

  1. I’m not so sure that low spend stays favor miles over points. Two consecutive low priced stays earn considerable bonus points. I can find great value in Choice reward night redemptions. Finding saver award availability with American Airlines has become increasingly problematic, at least on the routs that I’ve been flying and/or checking.

  2. I agree with you Ron. I may change to miles for the first half of August, since the 8K promo will be over, and not likely to kick in again that soon.

  3. Personally I favor earning points over miles. I would choose miles if I only planned for one hotel stay during the promotion period.

I regularly book $150 to $200 per night rooms at Nordic Choice Hotels in Scandinavia for 8,000 or 10,000 points per night.

  4. @ Ric

Thank you for initially and repeatedly pointing that out. IMO, even staying at some Nordic Choice properties at higher point redemptions represents a great value, particularly if the points were acquired via bonus points promotions or Daily Getaway purchases.

While our travel styles differ to some, not great, extent, I appreciate your blog and its emphasis on practical, non-extravagant travel that can be affordable for many.

So many others choose to write about “aspirational” properties and flights, but not everyone aspires to travel that way even if they can afford to do so with money, points, and/or miles.
