Best Western Rewards has a $10 per night Travel Card summer promotion for stays May 22 to September 4, 2017 for stays worldwide, if North America resident BWR member.
BWR members residing outside of North America can only earn the $10 per night Travel Cards for Best Western hotel stays in North America.
AAA member $20 per night: See comment to this post and following link. There is a $20 per night promotion for AAA Preferred members with same dates and terms. The BWR website returns an error message for that offer after I signed up for this $10 promotion today. Originally I signed up for the $10 offer and an error message returned when I tried to register for AAA offer. Then, I unregistered for $10 offer and I was able to register for $20 AAA offer. My account now shows $20 per night AAA offer.
This is a really nice deal for the budget traveler. I earned a $10 travel credit on a $39 suite in Gdansk, Poland in February. To my dismay, that hotel left the Best Western chain in the past month.
Or earn 1,000 AAdvantage Miles per stay May 1 – July 2, 2017
Alternatively, there is another good Best Western promotion for 1,000 American Airline miles per stay May 1 – July 2, 2017 (normal rate = 250 miles).
Loyalty Traveler – Earn 1,000 AAdvantage miles per Best Western stay May1-July 2, 2017
Tip: You must set your BWR account earning preference to miles if you want AAdvantage miles or points if you want BW Summer promotion $10 travel cards. You can register for both offers and change earning preference with different stays. Extended stays favor $10/night travel card and low cost one night stays favor airline miles.
The deal with these BW promotion travel cards is you receive an email within a couple of weeks after your stay including an e-travel card number with $10 credit. There is no limit on the number of credits earned during the promotion period.
I received five travel cards during the past six months. The difference between this summer 2017 promotion compared to the previous two $10 Travel Card offers is the change from $10 per stay to $10 per night.
Three issues with Best Western Travel Cards:
1. These promotion BW Travel eCard $10 credits expire 120 days after issuance. Issuance date is generally Travel Card email date, rather than hotel stay date.
2. May not be used to pay for advance purchase rates.
This restriction eliminates any redemption savings at many Best Western hotels with an eligible rate to use Travel Card more than $10 per night over advance purchase rates. AAA rates and other promotional rates and group rates with flexible cancellation rate terms tend to be close to advance purchase rates at many properties for an eligible stay.
3. Member must provide Best Western Travel eCard numbers at time of hotel check-in. I had a travel card credit refused when I provided them at check-out in Kaunas, Lithuania in April.
At check-in, a guest simply presents the Travel Card or the Travel Card number, personal credit card or other form of payment guarantee, and a valid form of identification. Total charges are reduced from the amount available on the Travel Card.
Best Western Amedia, Prague, Czechia
AAA rate = $69.22 is eligible rate for earning and redeeming $10 Travel Card credits.
Early Web Special (prepaid rate) = $65.32 is an eligible rate for earning $10 Travel Card credit, however, not an eligible rate for redeeming $10 Travel Card credits.
This is an example of a hotel where the AAA rate is only $3.90 more than the prepaid rate. Many hotels have a much larger rate difference between prepaid and flexible cancellation group rates, especially as the nightly rate climbs.
That is why I think of this offer as far more beneficial for budget travelers staying at low cost Best Western hotels.
