IHG One Rewards PointBreaks 5,000 points reward nights Points & Cash

IHG Points & Cash 12% copay discount for stays by April 30

IHG Rewards Club has another promotion for 12% discount on Points & Cash reward stays copay amount for bookings made by March 30 and completed by April 30, 2017.

Several blogs posted yesterday that Feb 17 was last day for IHG Rewards Club 100% bonus points purchase at $5.75 per 1,000 points. This Cash & Points 12% discount is a less expensive way to buy IHG Rewards Club points at $5.50 per 1,000 points.

IC Monterey P-C Feb18 discount

InterContinental Monterey Points & Cash Rates

  • 60,000 points Standard Reward
  • 40,000 Points + $110 (12% discount from $125).

$110 buys 20,000 points at rate of $5.50 per 1,000 points.

This may be a targeted offer for IHG Rewards Club MasterCard members? There is no direct link in the email I received.

Last month there was a 15% discount rate offer on Points & Cash stays. In general, I don’t find too much value in IHG Rewards Club points, except the occasional PointsBreak or a low category hotel in some cities. I earn points on paid stays with promotions like Accelerate 2017, a promotion I will complete this week.

Loyalty Traveler – Accelerate 2017 IHG Rewards Club Jan 1–April 15 bonus points

Holiday Inn Krakow is one hotel I stayed in 2016 for 15,000 points per night and that was a good deal last July, but that hotel increased to 20,000 points with 2017 reward category changes and reduced the marginal difference between points rate value and paid rate.

I wonder if this % is elite status based. I’ve seen on other blogs where they got a 10% offer. You mention 12%. I got the same offer but for 15% for the same date range. I’m Spire and Ambassador. My offer features Intercontinental on the email. Interesting I guess.

IHG points are excellent for high-season and special events because they’re usually still available.

I just used 40K for nights at the La Concha in Key West (cost $200) for weekend nights where the lowest cost room was $350 plus tax and fees ($400).

I have reservations for this weekend in New Orleans at the Crowne Plaza Astor at Canal and Bourbon for 40K for Mardi Gras where the rooms were also $350/400.

And I used my annual free night at the Crowne Plaza Times Square for New Years Eve.

$49 annual fee is a bargain for platinum status, free night and 10% point rebate !

Also there a San Diego hotel that’s selling 20K points on cash+ for $101 instead of $110.

@DaninMCI – Not surprised if discount tailored to member. IHG seems to like targeted offers.

@tassojunior – IHG card is a good deal. We will likely use our free night in one of the expensive European InterContinental hotels. 10% rebate nice too.

Thanks for tip on San Diego property. Always nice to know a hotel with an even lower Cash rate for members who simply want to buy some cheap points somewhere with Points & Cash reward.
