Hotel Indigo Krakow, Poland is a recently opened hotel in a convenient location two blocks from the city train station and ten minutes walk to Krakow’s Old Town. The 1836 original building was completely gutted and rebuilt as a hotel from 2014 to 2016.
We arrived from Bratislava by bus on Christmas Day. I had thought Krakow bus station was adjacent to the city train station, two blocks from Hotel Indigo. Turns out the bus station is about one mile from the hotel. It cost 12 PLN ($3.00) for a taxi. Transportation from Krakow Airport KRK to the City train station is about a 20 minute ride for 8 PLN ($2 USD). The train station is a five minute walk to the hotel.
We were given a room on Floor 3 of the 1-5 guest floors hotel. A small glass elevator is really small. Like two people with our carry-on luggage was tight.
The stairway is one of the prominent design features of the hotel. The elevator reveals historic paintings on the guest floor walls. The stairway is a tour of female nudes.
Our room was Floor 3 located over the front door of the hotel. Windows that open was a bonus, even though the outside temperature was below freezing. The drawback to this room location were hotel exterior lights shining through our windows. Bed comfort was great.
WiFi worked great at the hotel, like I find to be the case at most European hotels.
Christmas Angel cookie.
Krups coffee table.
The bathroom is one of the room’s highlights with tiled floor and wall, heated floor and a rain shower.
Great feature of the heated floor is our ability to hand wash clothes one week into our trip and dry our clothes overnight on the bathroom floor.
Drawback to rain shower was steam from shower set off room fire alarm. We did not hear any alarm, but the front desk staff came to the room to ask if everything okay?
Breakfast Room
At check-in we were told we received an upgraded room and free breakfast. I was kind of impressed until I checked my reservation to see I had booked an upgraded room with breakfast rate. Still a great deal paying $107 USD all-in per night with a $75 rebate to come for the 2-night stay with IHG Rewards Club and MasterCard promotion.

Cook to order omelets were also available for breakfast.
Hotel Indigo Krakow has a nice looking bar, but prices for a beer were double the price of most pubs in town.
Hotel Indigo Krakow is a good tourist location on the north side of Old Town and five minutes walk to the city train station, also the site of a large shopping mall and major Carrefour grocery store.
Hotel Indigo Krakow is a ten minute walk along the street to the barbican and historic city gate to Old Town. From photo angle above, Hotel indigo Krakow is to the right and Krakow train station is 100 meters away one block to left.
Krakow Barbican is 15th century historic fortification to the Old Town.
St. Florian’s Gate to Krakow Old Town ‘Stare Miasto’.
Hotel Indigo Krakow is 30,000 points per reward night in IHG Rewards Club. This placement probably spurred the Jan 15, 2017 increase for Holiday Inn Krakow from 15,000 points to 25,000 points per reward night.
