These would be amazingly low fares in any of the previous five summers for July travel with fares in the mid $600s on all three alliances from California to London. August fares tend to drop near the end of the month for late summer travel the past couple of years, and they drop to low $500s in late August 2017 again, but prices are as low as $559 round trip with Air New Zealand for departures beginning Sunday August 6. Oneworld and SkyTeam airlines do not drop fares to $500s until August 19.

The unusual aspect for ticket prices from Los Angeles to London is the ticket price only goes up to $600s for July and early August dates with all three alliances. And San Francisco has relatively low summer fares too in upper $600s for July and August.
