The recent spate of low fares From British Airways seems to have spurred some good deals from United Airlines for Italy and Spain and a few other cities in Europe. Fares to several cities in each country are around $500 round trip for departures from early January to around May 10. Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Amsterdam and Zurich are all around $500 or less. London is $548 via Dublin or $557 nonstop.
TAP Portugal has lower fares to many more cities across western Europe, however, those tickets are low frequent flyer earning booking codes. There are some cities, like Nantes in France, with low Brussels Airlines fares.
