SFO-London LGW $200 one way WOW, $219 Norwegian OAK-LGW Oct-March

There are a couple of low one-way fare ticket deals starting at $200 from San Francisco to London Gatwick on WOW Air for travel from October to March on Tuesdays. A similar fare of $219 one way is available on Norwegian from Oakland on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Oct-March 2017. I think the best value here are one-way tickets to London. Norwegian return flights are $235 to $261 Nov-Mar. WOW Air has some $237 London LGW – SFO one-way flights, but not many. Most fares are upper $300s to get back to California on WOW.

The higher return price from London to San Francisco Bay Area, along with several airports, especially in Sweden and Norway and other cities around Europe offering low cost round trip tickets to San Francisco for around $400, means these one-way flights are a good deal for positioning yourself in Europe to take advantage of lower ticket prices from there to San Francisco. Many of these low fare round trip tickets on major alliance airlines for $400 or less also allow the return flight from California to Europe as late as next summer. You can book your next return to Europe for about $100 to $150 more than a one-way ticket back to San Francisco on WOW or Norwegian.

Realistically, most travelers will need to put out an additional $58 to $77 one way on WOW Air to pay for one carry-on bag or one checked bag. WOW Air now allows a passenger to bring 22 lb. as carry-on for free, but the caveat is you must pack smaller than normal carry-on bags or else pay $58 for a normal size roller bag as your carry-on bag.

Norwegian allows a normal size carry-on bag for free, up to 22 lb. Norwegian hits you with high seat assignment fee at $45 one-way or gamble with the airline’s free seat assignment.
