The fare war is on in Chicago and United has the most routes at discount prices, just like Los Angeles, attacking SkyTeam in Italy, France. Meanwhile American and Delta are picking their battlegrounds mostly as attacks on Star Alliance hub countries Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Poland. Chicago differs from Los Angeles in that Spain routes are not on sale.
This is a widespread sale by United and Star Alliance carriers covering much of Europe. Notable are the standout countries of UK, Portugal, Spain and Czech Republic. Notable are the number of eastern European countries with low fares including much of the Balkans and Greece.
