Continuing a survey of low fares introduced by American and United Airlines as they battle Virgin America, Spirit, Frontier, JetBlue and each other across the USA with attacks on Delta hubs, but little competitive response from Delta. United hits American Airlines hard with $47 one way fares to Dallas (AA $101) and $106 to Phoenix (AA $142).
A prime example are Delta’s New York fares to Detroit and Minneapolis on Tue Oct 4.
American JFK – Detroit DTW $115 one way (even lower $108 on other dates; Milwaukee MKE $82)
Delta JFK- DTW $323 one way, while JFK – Milwaukee MKE is $82 one way
United LGA – DTW $148 one way (Lower $143 on some other dates, Milwaukee MKE $74).
Delta is hardly competing on most routes being battled between American and United.’
