The angle I first checked after seeing this deal is see what rates are like around London in August. Is $173 USD per night a good deal? A quick check of Kayak.com showed lots of potential best rate guarantee claims. There seemed to be several 4-star hotels around $130 per night in London. Even some of the Club Carlson hotels looked like they have potential best rate guarantee claims with flexible cancellation rates on OTA sites like Priceline that are lower than Club Carlson website rates.

Before I thought to look at Club Carlson 2-for-1 rates and 4-for-2 rates available to Gold and Concierge Elite members, I saw this post on No Mas Coach – FLASH Sale – London Hotel rooms for ~$100 a night. Jon shows how these Club Carlson elite member rates drop the price significantly lower than 129 GBP to the point that the $75 per night room rate savings makes up for the lack of breakfast on a 2-for-1 rate if you are only a Gold elite member.

The combination of low rates at Park Plaza Riverbank and 2-for-1 rates means there are weekends when this hotel is as low as $95 per night in August.

This is also a hotel I stayed in once in 2013. My room view looked out to Big Ben. I was impressed.
