Fare Alert California regional airports $530 Dublin round trip, $600s much of Europe

This is an update on the nationwide fare sale with American, Delta and United to Europe for travel from August through March 2017 that is now going on 48 hours or so. The deal is particularly good for Californians since low fares comparable to LAX and SFO are available from regional airports across the state. In this post I show a survey of fares from 15 California regional airports from San Diego to Arcata/Eureka, Palm Springs to Redding. The lowest fares are to Dublin, Ireland priced at $529 to $535 from more than 15 airports in California. Flights to Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Paris and Rome are only $70 to $100 more.

Departure dates begin late August and extend through March 2017 with limited low fare dates from mid-December to early January. Fares rise to more than $1,000 for flights in April. This is more typical of the usual price for most California regional airports to Europe. The big value here is the opportunity to fly from a regional airport at the same ticket price, without the high expense for many of us to travel to Los Angeles LAX and San Francisco SFO for cheaper international flights.

I’ll limit my survey to Dublin, one of the lowest fare cities in this sale and use the dates Tue Oct 4 – Tue Oct 11 for all routes as an example fare. A similar fare is available over dozens of dates between August and March 2017.
