United and Delta fare war New York to Europe routes under $600 round trip

United and Delta are battling it out for Europe today from Newark EWR and New York JFK with UA fares as low as $488 round trip for nonstop flights EWR to Paris and Air France $491 nonstop from JFK. Delta and United are battling in Chicago ORD, Washington IAD and New York area. Several of the low fare routes today are also deeply discounted with Icelandair. Hard to say if these low fares are an attack between Delta and United or an attack on Icelandair low fares?
