British Airways $552 LAX to Madrid, $614 SFO to Paris, $560 OAK to Dublin Aug-Mar

The current fare war between American, Delta and United from many California airports creates an opportunity to use the British Airways AARP economy fare $65 discount to reduce ticket prices from LAX, SFO, SAN, SJC, OAK to some airports in Europe down to mid $500s for travel from August to March 2017. You can join AARP (at any age) for $16 and still save $49 on your first BA ticket.

Some British Airways fares I found today. Finding dates with low fares is easy, once you find the low fare routes. Spain seems to be the primary area in Europe where American matches any low UA and DL fares in the $600s round trip. The AARP British Airways discount reduces some of these ticket prices to the $500s.

The same $584 fare is available from San Jose SJC and Los Angeles LAX.

These are fantastic fares to Europe from California over a long period with the current sale. Once you find a route with low AA fares, there are plenty of dates available at low fares for your trip to Europe. Unfortunately, I have not found any regional airport in California, like Monterey MRY, where the BA discount works.

Filter Google Flights fare search for Oneworld Alliance only to find low fare European airports.

Google Flights allows you to filter fare search for only Oneworld Alliance flights. This gives you an overview of low fare cities and then you can search Google Flights for even lower fare dates on that route.

Looking at this map led me to check Athens, Greece.

British Airways Los Angeles LAX – London LHR – Athens ATH (all BA operated flights)

This looks like the best flight itinerary to me with LAX-LHR on A388 aircraft, both ways. The entertainment system on the A380 makes that long-haul flight enjoyable to me.

These tickets book in O fare class and earn 25% flight miles in AAdvantage and 50% EQM.
