Hyatt Memorial Weekend Member Holiday Rate

Yesterday I analyzed discount rates offered exclusively for Hyatt Gold Passport members. This follow-up post shares a special Hyatt Hotels Memorial Weekend rate for USA, Canada and Aruba stays Thursday May 26 to Tuesday May 31, 2016 for bookings made by May 17. This discount is bigger, up to 20% off Best Flexible Rate (BAR) than the normal Hyatt member discount of 5 to 10%.

Hyatt Holiday Rate puts you in a King bed for $207 per night.

AAA Rates

In yesterday’s look at Hyatt Member Rates, I stated I had not found any USA hotels where the member discount rate was lower than the AAA rate. The Hyatt member only  Holiday Rate at $207 per night is quite a bit lower than $237 lowest AAA rate for the King Bed.

But here is the gotcha part of the rate analysis.

AAA $237 rate is for a City View King. Hyatt’s Holiday Rate simply states King bed for $207. When you look at Hyatt’s Holiday Rate for all other room categories, the rates are exactly the same as AAA rates.

The big difference between AAA and Holiday Rate is AAA reservations may be cancelled without penalty up to 48 hours prior to arrival. Holiday Rate is an advance purchase, prepaid and nonrefundable rate.

AAA wins for this hotel stay at Grand Hyatt San Francisco, even with a $30 per night lower rate available through Hyatt’s Holiday Rate. There may be better deals at other hotels or you may not be a AAA member, in which case the Hyatt Memorial Weekend Holiday Rate might work out for your hotel plans.

On a final note, hotel rates are actually looking relatively low right now for San Francisco hotels this month with a number of hotels under $200 per night on weekends. That has not been too common this past year. Also, I noticed for the first time today Hyatt Regency San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf has been rebranded Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf.
