There are two new changes I noticed on the IHG website today. While searching IHG hotels for New Orleans, I came across a $100 Points and Cash copay to buy 15,000 points. The option to buy 15,000 points when booking an IHG Rewards Club Points and Cash stay is a relatively new option that was a maximum $90 last month at the hotels where I found this option.

- 40,000 points + $70
- 35,000 points + $100.00 (this was $90 last month before IHG changed reward categories and added a 60,000 points top tier reward night level).

Fortunately, this $100 copay is not a new fixed in stone amount yet. I also found Amsterdam Crowne Plaza offering 15,000 points for $85 when booking Points and Cash award nights in what is a 15% discount on the standard rate.

Crowne Plaza Amsterdam leads into the next part of the IHG website changes. This hotel is scheduled to become the first international Kimpton Hotel in 2017.

I also noticed today that Kimpton Hotels are now listed on the IHG website in city hotel searches. You are redirected for booking to the Kimpton website.

InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco shows the variable Points and Cash rate with a 15% discount on the purchase price of points.
Of course, you can simply buy points at $5.95 per 1,000 points with this current deal and cancel the Points and Cash stay to pocket the cheap points at a low rate. There is no annual limit when purchasing points through Points and Cash reward stays. There are not too many annual opportunities to buy IHG points for under $6.00 per 1,000 points.
