Moscow 5-Star Hotels under $100 per night

Summer 2012 was filled with stories about Moscow, Russia holding the title for most expensive hotel rates in the world. Moscow held the title for highest hotel rates eight consecutive years from 2005-2012.

Business Insider did a piece in August 2012 on the Five Most Expensive Luxury Hotels in Moscow.

After reading an article about the record low exchange rate last Friday, Jan 22 for the Russian Ruble at 82.62 RUB = $1.00 USD, today I checked current hotel rates in Moscow to see what kind of deals are found.

The Russian Ruble today is around 77 to 78 RUB = $1.00 USD.

I have always wanted to visit Moscow since reading the great Russian classics by Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Gogol and Pushkin when I was a teenager.

Of course February is probably not the best time to sightsee in Moscow. I’ll be in Stockholm in July and Moscow is a distinct possibility for summer travel. Moscow room rates are still a bargain for July. Looks like a good time to lock in some low hotel rates on Advance Purchase prepaid rooms.

Just reading this right now. Thanks for the research and the great article. How things (rates) change… Btw. the rates for a 3 year and 1 year multiple visa for US citicens are the same. Why not get a 3 year? However prices go up when rush visa….
