Fare Alert: Air China $572 SFO, $620 LAX to Singapore earns 100% United Mileage Plus miles

Singapore was my United Airlines 1K preferred destination mileage run a decade ago. Typically I would fly United Airlines to Singapore via Tokyo, stay two or three nights, buy some inexpensive clothes at any of the numerous city shopping malls and fly home to California, while earning 17,550 EQM and 35,000 redeemable miles on tickets priced around $600 round trip.

Star Alliance member Air China has San Francisco SFO – Singapore SIN via one-stop Beijing PEK flights at $572.19 round trip. Los Angeles LAX – Singapore SIN is $620 round trip for most dates in March and April 2016. These low fare dates appear to book in Air China economy class U for February and March dates, which earns 50% redeemable miles and 50% EQM in United Airlines Mileage Plus. The fare alert deal here is these same fares appear to book in Air China Economy L class for departures in April 2016.

SFO-PEK-SIN-PEK-SFO = 17,286 flight miles.

LAX-PEK-SIN-PEK-LAX = 18,061 flight miles.

For April 2016 flights, San Francisco and Los Angeles have the same Air China fares SFO-SIN at $572 and $620 round trip that book in Air China economy L class and earn 100% EQM and redeemable miles in United Mileage Plus. The Air China change from economy U to economy L booking code only appears to be the case for April flights in my searches.

These $580 fares on Google Flights price at $572.19 on Air China website. All the dates I checked showed Air China economy U for March flights and Air China economy L for April flights. Economy L earns 100% Mileage Plus flight miles.

LAX-PEK-SIN is 9,030 miles one way and 9,030 is the number of redeemable Mileage Plus miles and EQM earned for Air China Economy U booking code $620 fare.
