Skyteam is participating in a fare war that I watched develop in front of my eyes. I think this is one of the first times I have actually watched fares drop in a big way as I searched Google Flights.
Skyteam dropped fare to Helsinki and Baltics yesterday from across North America to $600s. I don’t know what fares were like from Toronto yesterday. Today I saw a post that Air Canada had low fare to Helsinki at $412 USD round trip. As I searched that fare on Google Flights, FinnAir posted an even lower $390 round trip flight about an hour ago flying nonstop flights Toronto to Helsinki. FinnAir dropped prices for several Scandinavian cities and Baltics.
Within minutes Skyteam dropped Baltic fares down to mid-$300s.
Here are some of the low fares I have seen in past hour from Toronto YYZ for travel from September into winter 2016.
Toronto YYZ Low SkyTeam Alliance fares to Europe
YYZ – FCO Rome $437
YYZ – CDG Paris $481
YYZ-AMS Amsterdam $498
YYZ – BGO Bergen $452
YYZ – TLL Tallinn, Estonia $343
YYZ – CDG Paris $522 American Airlines
YYZ – RIX Riga, Latvia $378
YYZ – MPL Montpellier, France $512
YYZ – NTE Nantes, France $493
YYZ – FCO Rome, Italy $440 Alitalia nonstop
YYZ – OPO Porto, Portugal $508
You get the idea. This is a great fare sale from Toronto.
There are many more European airports with SkyTeam fares far lower than you will likely find available for travel from the USA. Places like Croatia, Serbia and Albania and many regional airports in Italy, Spain and France are priced in the mid $500s to $600s round trip.
KLM Toronto YYZ – TLL Tallinn, Estonia
$447.86 CAD = $342.72 USD October 14 – October 27
This is a dynamic situation with many low fares to Europe appearing today for Toronto YYZ. There are also great deals available today from US airports with the best value fares in the mid-$600s from western USA.
