    I would advise against going to Darwin or anywhere in northern Australia between October and April. That’s the wet season with hurricanes and flooding, so all the best parks are off limits.

    Good to know about Darwin. If California has another dry rainy season, Darwin rains might feel like relief.

    Melbourne for $200 more looks good and it will be late spring in November.

    … this could be a relatively cheap way to visit south Australia, instead of Darwin fly down to Sydney or Melbourne. Jetstar has cheap flights usually.
