I have never purchased a Business Class airline ticket that was not a mistake fare. My quick analysis shows Business Class fares tend to be about 3.5 to 4x the price of an economy ticket with this Qatar Airways sale. The outlier was UK airports MAN, EDI or LHR – MEL Melbourne, Australia in July 2015 when the ticket difference between Business Class and Economy narrows to 2x more expensive.

Another factor that improves Qatar Airways Business Class I fare over Economy Class O fare is the opportunity to earn 1.25 AAdvantage miles per flight mile for Business Class I fare on Qatar Airways compared to 0.25 miles per flight mile in economy O class.
21,372 flight miles from London – Doha, Qatar – Melbourne, Australia round trip in business class earns 26,715 redeemable miles for a flyer without elite status in AAdvantage, Economy class earns 5,343 redeemable AAdvantage miles.
After finding economy fares to be competitively priced flying Qatar Airways to Asia or Australia with prices in this sale, I decided to take a look at Business Class ticket prices compared to Economy Class. I only compared two routes with UK – Melbourne, Australia and UK – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for price and AAdvantage redeemable miles earned.
