Around the World with SPG Hot Escapes Time Zones

Here is a quick trip around the world to illustrate how local hotel time looks from California for this week’s SPG Hot Escapes ending today.

South Korea, Japan and Australia are closed for booking this week, since it is now Sunday in those countries at 7am California time.

China, Indonesia and Malaysia close at 8am Pacific time for west coast USA.

SPG Indonesia

Thailand is one hour later than Malaysia and bookings must be made before 9am Pacific time.

Bengaluru, India has an odd 30 minute time zone for SPG Hot Escapes and must be booked by 10:30am Pacific time today.

United Arab Emirates is 12 hours time difference from California and must be booked by 12:00 noon Pacific time Saturday.

I am blown away by the price for the Luxury Collection Al Maha Dubai at $890 per night. The hotel received an award for best Dubai luxury resort. This hotel is a SPG Category 7 award.

SPG UAE

Egypt has reigned as the low cost hotel resort destination for years.  $55 per night for a Le Meridien or Sheraton Resort is hard to beat. Political domestic turmoil in Egypt is enough to keep me away, yet these resorts still rate highly among guest reviews with 4.5 and 4.6 of 5 stars on hotels under $65 per night. Egypt drops off the SPG Hot Escapes list at 2:00pm Pacific time Saturday.

Interesting to see Israel is listed with the Europe region rather than the Middle East. That categorization does not buy you any more time for booking. Israel drops off SPG Hot Escapes at 2:00pm Pacific time.

SPG Israel

Russia has many time zones. Moscow is two hours earlier than Egypt and Israel. Need to book Moscow by 12 noon Pacific time.

Italy has some real discounts on normally high-priced historic hotels like The Gritti Palace in Venice. Two months ago Gritti Palace was $1,000 per night. There are several dates for the SPG category 7 Gritti Palace under $500 per night on this week’s SPG Hot Escapes. You have until 3:00pm Pacific time to book Italy and western Europe hotels. United Kingdom and Ireland are one hour later, so bookings accepted until 4pm Saturday, Pacific time.

What about Africa?

Gambia and Nigeria are on this week’s SPG Hot Escapes. Nigeria is on the western side of Africa and due south of European countries like France, Germany and Italy with the same time zone. 3:00pm Pacific deadline for SPG Hot Escapes. Gambia is the westernmost country on the African continent with same time zone as UK/Ireland and 4pm deadline for SPG Hot Escapes.

Argentina is farther east than New York.

Buenos Aires, Argentina is farther east in longitude than New York or Boston. The time difference between Argentina and New York is currently 2 hours later in Argentina. Argentina does not participate in Daylight Savings Time. SPG Hot Escapes ends at 7:00pm Pacific time for Argentina hotels.
