New Sheraton Resort Tokoriki Island Fiji

One of the hotels on this week’s SPG Hot Escapes is the new Sheraton Resort Tokoriki Island Fiji with rates at $179 for the next six weeks. New is not actually accurate since the hotel was rebranded from the former Amunuca Island Resort with a $20 million property renovation.

Sheraton Tokoriki opened June 2014. The resort is listed as an SPG category 6 property, yet room rates are currently lower than the SPG category-4 Sheraton Denarau Resort on the main island near the Nadi International Airport.

TripAdvisor.com reviews are quite mixed with a several 5-circle ratings and 1-circle ratings among the 40 reviews posted so far. The result is 3.5 circles and a 62% thumbs up rating for the property.

In contrast, Tokoriki Island Resort, the other hotel on the island, has a 92% thumbs up rating with 744 reviews and the hotel is a TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Winner ranked #2 for Top Fiji hotels and #3 for Romance Hotel.  With room rates around $700 to $800 per night for September dates, a couple can book more nights at the Sheraton Tokoriki for the price of a stay at Tokoriki Island Resort.

Getting to Sheraton Resort Tokoriki Island, Fiji

The South Pacific island adventure begins before you even get to the hotel resort.

Mandatory Transfer Policy

Arrival at the resort is available only via transfers booked directly with the resort. The resort is approximately one to two hours by boat. Bus transfers to Denarau Marina for Sheraton Tokoriki Island guest registration and boat transfer depart from Sheraton Fiji Resort at 2:30pm daily. The boat transfer fee is 145 FJD ($78.20 USD) per person each way. Children ages 5 to 15 years of age travel for 72.50 FJD. Children 4 years of age and under are complimentary.

Where is Tokoriki Island?

For geography challenged readers, Fiji is a set of islands in the South Pacific closer to Australia and New Zealand than the USA.

Nadi Airport (NAN) is the main international airport for the islands of Fiji. The Sheraton Denarau Resort is near the airport and serves as the gateway to Sheraton Tokoriki Island.

Tokoriki Island is about 20 miles from the Nadi airport. Guests can reach the island by helicopter in 12 minutes (price?) or travel by shuttle bus to Sheraton Denarau Resort for the one hour boat transfer to Tokoriki Island.

Sheraton Tokoriki Island also has the option of JetSki transfer. I’d love to read a travel review of this transportation option.

Ric – if you click through from the Getting There page on the resort website to the Transfer Form, you can see the prices for the other options (adult; converted and rounded using google):

    Helicopter: USD275/470 oneway/return
Jetski: USD190 oneway, but with a baggage charge on top of that.

Jetski would be a pretty neat way of getting to your hotel!

Nice update to know about – thanks!
