United eliminates winter Bermuda flights Dec 3-April 2, 2015

United Airlines has eliminated its flight schedule from Newark EWR to Bermuda December 3 to April 2, 2015 citing lack of demand. This is after reducing daily service last winter to four flights per week.

If Bermuda is your winter destination, then American, Delta and JetBlue are your airline choices out of the New York area.

The decision by United is expected to have some impact on Bermuda tourism.

I can verify the lack of demand. I went to Bermuda in February on United, and the return flight in particular was wide open – I received UA’s email the day before notifying me of my upgrade to first class! How often does THAT happen?!

Bermuda is a place I have wanted to visit. Never looked seriously into a trip there yet, although I have checked out the Bermuda hotel sites. That could be a fresh update for Bermuda hotels on Loyalty Traveler.
