Hotel Reviews Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront, Marriott Autograph Collection

Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront is one of two highly rated Kessler Hotels in Savannah that are part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The hotel is in the rarified air of 32 hotels worldwide in Marriott Rewards category 9, the highest level for Marriott Rewards hotels at 45,000 points per night. Only some higher tier Ritz-Carlton brand properties are higher priced award nights with Marriott Rewards points. Seventeen of the category 9 hotels are in the USA. Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront is currently listed at PointSavers award rates for 40,000 points per night for select dates over summer months.

One of the Savannah tourism magazines I picked up at the Convention & Visitors Bureau recommended the Bohemian Hotel rooftop bar for the best view in Savannah.

Savannah River and Talmadge Memorial Bridge (1991). Eugene Talmadge was Democratic governor of Georgia 1933-37 and 1941-43. The bridge allows vessels 185 feet clearance. The bridge north of the Savannah River goes to Hutchinson Island and into South Carolina.

The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront has a riverfront level ground floor bar, Rocks on the River and a rooftop bar, Rocks on the Roof.

There is a kayak theme in The Rocks bars.

There are little touches around the hotel that caught my eye. TripAdvisor reviews of the Bohemian Savannah hotel are amusing to see how some people find the hotel décor too eclectic. This hotel ranks #17 of 112 hotels at time of post.

I mentioned the view from Rocks of the Roof was a recommendation from the Savannah tourism guide.

Rocks on the Roof bar. The night before on Cinco de Mayo there was plenty of activity when I visited these two bars after finding the Hyatt Regency bar not the happening place. Lamp shades are strings of oyster shells.

The Bohemian is a small boutique hotel of 75 rooms. There is a small lobby space. The bars and restaurants are the center of activity.

Kessler Hotels feature numerous pieces of art. There is an art gallery at The Mansion on Forsyth Park, another Savannah Kessler Hotel. That will be another hotel review I’ll publish this week.

The river view larger guest room is the top category room of the hotel. Rates for May 21, 2014 are $379 best available rate. AAA rates run $296 to $341, before 12% tax rate.

This room is a corner room with the windows facing the Hyatt hotel wall in the photo above and the other wall offering a view of the Savannah River.

The bathroom offers a separate bathtub and a glass door shower stall.

The Bohemian Savannah is only about five years old and the furnishings look good.

River Street runs alongside the Savannah River. The level of River Street is about 30 feet below Bay Street. Historic stairs and big stone roads lead from Bay Street down to the riverfront.

Rocks on the River on the riverfront sits on floor 1 and the Bohemian Savannah hotel lobby is on Floor 4 and Rocks on the Roof is on Floor 9.

The Bohemian Savannah Riverfront is a trendy Savannah Hotel in the liveliest part of Historic Savannah along the River Road bars and restaurants in a highly pedestrian tourist area. The other Kessler hotel in Savannah is The Mansion on Forsyth Park in a residential area of Savannah. In many ways, The Mansion is preferable as a Savannah hotel if the party scene along the river is not your Savannah vacation desire.

I am really enjoying your series of posts about your trip along the East Coast. How did you pay for this hotel in Savannah, as well as the one in St Augistine?

@Carl – The Marriott Autograph Collection hotels were site visits as me being Loyalty Traveler requesting a tour of the hotel. I did not stay the night at the Casa Monica St. Augustine or The Bohemian Savannah hotels.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Savannah next to The Bohemian and that is why I was at the Rocks on the Rooftop and Rocks on the River bars on Cinco de Mayo. On Tuesday morning, May 6 I toured The Bohemian Savannah and Mansion on Forsyth Park before driving to Charleston, SC.
