Aeroflot fall travel LAX-Barcelona $685 LAX-BUD $692 and much of Europe in $700s

Beginning in mid-September Aeroflot offers discount airfares from LAX via Moscow to more than a dozen cities around Europe at under $800 per ticket. There might be better airfare opportunities in the coming months, but that is no guarantee. These are lower airfares to other competitive airlines by several hundred dollars for travel in September and October from the USA to Europe.

For example: Barcelona and Budapest are two locations with airfare under $700 for September travel.

Here is a list of airports in 9 European countries where you can fly Aeroflot for under $800 in September and October. This is just a sample of the Aeroflot destinations on certain dates. Check Google flights and ITA Software Matrix Flight Search for other dates, rates and cities.

The United and Delta fare war with Norwegian Airlines offers lower fares to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and a variety of other cities including $546 for Billund, Denmark (BLL) which is a RyanAir airport for low cost flights all over Europe. Aeroflot offers the ease of one airline ticket with no funky baggage rules.

Delta SFO and FLL to Norway, Sweden, Denmark $463 to $625 for spring/fall travel (March 27, 2014). This Loyalty Traveler article has links to my other posts this week explaining how to use Google Flight Search and ITA Matrix Flight Search to find these low Aeroflot airfares to European cities on other dates.

Overnight in Moscow

Originally I came across these fares a couple days ago while searching LAX to Athens airfare and the ticket price was $763 for October travel.

An interesting aspect of the itinerary was an overnight in Moscow. I read a transit visa is required and available instead of a tourist visa for an overnight stay leaving SVO airport to go into the city.

Anyone have knowledge of the cost of a transit visa for less than 24 hours in Moscow and experience obtaining one for an overnight in Moscow?

If you have to get a visa for Russia, the cost of your trip goes up incredibly.

Interesting. Although holding a US passport, I would be a little wary about passing through Moscow…

Also the safety record for Aeroflot is worrisome. I would really rather just pay more.

Fuck Russia! After what they have done, I won’t support them or their state owned airline.
