Marriott Rewards is teaming up with Hertz to give you the gift of exclusive savings this holiday season. Marriott Rewards members can receive up to 35% off Hertz rental rates with rates starting as low as $16.99, and you can earn up to 5,000 Marriott Rewards points. This offer is good on multiple rentals picked up through January 31, 2014 at participating airport locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico:

• 2,000 points for 2 to 4-day rentals

• 5,000 points for rentals of 5 days or more

Begin your journey today. Book online or call Hertz at 1-800-654-2210 and mention discount code 154080, PC #193826 along with your Marriott Rewards number.

Rate Analysis

I did a sample rate check for San Jose Airport (SJC) November 25-30, 2013. The rate showed $185.49 without any promotional code and $166.94 with this Marriott code.

I value Marriott Rewards points at about $10 per 1,000 points making this about a $20 to $50 bonus on a Hertz car rental.

Well, I could give a damn about Marriott points, but this rate just saved me a bundle on a rental I have for tomorrow in PHX which I was unhappy with, having changed plans a little too recently to get a good rate until now. Thanks!

    Ric,

thank you for your posts, which are both interesting and enjoyable to read.

Unfortunately, it seems there have been some changes in your handling of the RSS feed:
Starting this week, I can only see the first two or three sentences of each post in my RSS reader (feedly).

This does not seem to be a boardingarea.com issue, since I can read other blogs (like viewfromthewing) without any problems.

The current situation is that I am unable to read your blog, especially on the go (on my mobile devices).

Could you please comment on whether this is an intended change, and whether it is temporary or permanent?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Ingo

Glenn – Glad to hear you found a lower rate.

Ingo – Any RSS feed change is unintentional. I’ll have to check into that situation.

Thanks so much for the info, it does save a little bit of money with the codes. Do you know though if even if I use the codes, can I still elect to collect Hertz #1 GoldPoints instead of MR?
