IHG Rewards Club will unveil its fall 2013 promotion ‘The Big Win’ on Monday, August 26. The initial press release calls this the biggest IHG promotion of the year with IHG Rewards Club members receiving customized promotions worth at least 50,000 bonus points or 10,000 bonus miles.
Members will begin to earn when they register and stay between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013 at any IHG hotel, including the InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo® Hotels, Holiday Inn® Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort® Hotels, Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, Holiday Inn Express® Hotels, Staybridge Suites® Hotels or Candlewood Suites® Hotels brands. [Note Update: IHG hotels worldwide participate in this offer is what I was just told in an email from IHG Communications. The press release I received stated in an asterisk China was excluded for The Big Win offer, but apparently that was incorrect. Hotels in Greater China are not participating in this promotion.]
The registration page does not go live until Monday, August 26. when more details will start to become available. The only detail released so far is the first night will earn 1,000 bonus points or 500 bonus miles for the member.
After your first night, you will win another offer for additional stays.
Targeted Promotions to become more prevalent?
This promotion appears to be designed with the individual guest’s profile in mind. The hotel industry conferences I have attended and several research articles over the past year encouraged hotel loyalty programs to use their data mining of guest profiles and expenditures to customize hotel loyalty promotions.
If you are concerned about the government tracking your patterns, you have only more to fear from loyalty programs and credit card expenditures where you are tracked, profiled and stored in a marketing folder for customized pitches.
IHG Rewards Club appears to be openly advocating this approach to hotel loyalty promotions with this customized offer.
