Buy Hyatt points 30% bonus offer to June 30, 2013

Hyatt Gold Passport points have not come up on Daily Getaways for 2013. Perhaps they will appear in the last two weeks of Daily Getaways offers.

There are three days of points offers from Best Western, Choice Privileges and IHG Priority Club/IHG Rewards Club next week during week three of the Daily Getaways offers. So far this year there has not been much that excites me in those sales.

Hyatt points $18.46 per 1,000 Points.

Hyatt Gold Passport allows members to buy up to 40,000 points per calendar year at the rate of 1,000 points for $24.

The current sale gives a 30% bonus when buying 30,000 to 40,000 points for $720 to $960.

30% bonus points means $720 buys 39,000 points and $960 buys 52,000 points.

The cost per 1,000 points is reduced from $24 to $18.46.

Receive up to a 30% Point Bonus!

Purchase points from June 1 through June 30, 2013 and receive the following bonus:

  • Purchase 1,000 to 9,000 points and get a 10% bonus.
  • Purchase 10,000 to 29,000 points and get a 20% bonus.
  • Purchase 30,000 to 40,000 points and get a 30% bonus.

Buying points is only advisable if you have enough experience to know you will get better value from buying points and your stays are frequent enough to spend the points before the next annual change in hotel award cost.

The past two years has seen many hotel properties in category 1 at 5,000 points and category 2 at 8,000 points per night rise to higher levels.

Table comparing the cost of hotels when points purchase rate is $18.46 per 1,000; the 30% bonus rate when buying 39,000 to 52,000 points for $720 to $960.

  • Category 1 = $93 for 5,000 points.
  • Category 2 = $148 for 8,000 points.
  • category 3 = $222 for 12,000 points.
  • Category 4 = $277 for 15,000 points.
  • Category 5 = $333 for 18,000 points.
  • Category 6 = $406 for 22,000 points.

These are the nightly room rates (after tax) needed to save money buying Hyatt Gold Passport points.

You might also want to consider the Hyatt Gold Passport points not earned when redeeming free award nights.

There are dozens of hotels where buying points will save money compared to published rates. You might want to pass on this points purchase offer if you are not already aware of places where buying points will save money.

And keep your eye on the Daily Getaways offers for the final two weeks to see if Hyatt Gold Passport participates this year.

Last year there were about 165 sets of Hyatt points sold during one day of Daily Getaways at prices as low as $10 per 1,000 points. This was one of the toughest deals to purchase as the sets of points were sold in seconds.

Keep in mind that the 30% bonus points sale through Hyatt Gold Passport is available through June 30, 2013.

If Hyatt Gold Passport points appear on Daily Getaways, the offer will not be available before July 1.

That leaves you with a choice of strategy.

Buy Hyatt points with a definite discount offer or wait and try to score an even better deal through Daily Getaways. Of course, at this time we don’t even know if Hyatt Gold Passport has an offer for 2013 Daily Getaways. We should know definitely by June 30 if Hyatt will participate in Daily Getaways for 2013.
