Starwood Preferred Guest has a Starpoints sale at 25% off when you buy 13,000 to 20,000 points by April 30, 2013. Normally Starpoints are $35 per 1,000 points.

Periodically SPG offers Starpoints at 20% discount for $28 per 1,000 points. This sale reduces the cost of points to $26.25 per 1,000 points.

Members can only purchase 20,000 points in a calendar year. You must have had an active account for a minimum 14 days to purchase points.

20,000 points is $525.

Cash & Points awards often give a redemption value in excess of $40 per 1,000 points. 20,000 points can save $800 or more at some hotels.

If you find yourself wishing you had more Starpoints to get a discount price award stay, then this sale could be a good buy.

  1. Do you get any bonus on top of this if you make the purchase with the SPG Amex?

  2. I don’t think so as I believe it’s processed through points.com, not Starwood themselves. Let’s wait for more comments by experienced folks. :)

  3. Purchase is handled by Points.com so no bonus with SPG AMEX.

  4. Interesting. SPG points slightly devalued from higher cash and points rates and then Starwood sells points for cheaper now…

  5. you get a 5000 point bonus if you transfer 20K SPG points to miles. love you SPG!

  6. I floated at Blue Light (Sam’s apartment), it was fine.
