Club Carlson Gold Elite 2-for-1 weekend extend rates in EMEA

I am a newly minted Gold member with Club Carlson. No, I have not signed up for a Club Carlson Visa card with the benefit of complimentary Gold elite status. But I plan to get the credit card in the next couple of months. The benefit as a credit card member of a free award night on award stays of two nights or more is an enticing offer.

This week I applied for an elite status match and I was upgraded from Club Carlson general member Red status to Gold elite today.  Now I will earn 2,000 bonus points for online reservations and 50% bonus on base points for paid stays.

I am traveling to Europe next week and Gold elite status in Club Carlson will improve the value of my hotel stays.

Club Carlson Weekend Extend 2-for-1 rates and 4-for-2 rates (Exclusive Gold elite member rate).

One benefit of Club Carlson Gold elite status is exclusive weekend rates for select hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

2-for-1 rates require a Friday or Saturday night stay meaning you can book the rate for Thursday-Friday, Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday nights.

There is also a 4-for-2 night rate for Wednesday-Saturday or Thursday–Sunday stays.

These are capacity controlled rates and not available every weekend at all hotels.

2 for 1 Nights

Exclusive Gold Elite member offer.

Now your weekend will last longer with the Club CarlsonSMWeekend Extend offer; available at locations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

  • Stay Thursday night, get Friday night FREE!
  • Stay Friday night, get Saturday night FREE!

The 2-for-1 rate was not available for Carlson Rezidor hotels in Berlin during the ITB Berlin Travel Industry Conference, but I did find the rate available for other hotels in Germany.

Club Carlson 2-for-1 weekend rates in Dresden, Germany.

The rate for Radisson Blu Gewandhaus in Dresden is 49.50 EUR ($65 USD) per night with the 2-for-1 weekend extend on a Saturday-Sunday nights booking. Park Inn by Radisson Dresden 24.50 EUR per night ($32.18 USD).

Can you even get a Motel 6 anywhere in the U.S. for $32 bucks a night?

Park Inn Dresden is a Club Carlson category 2 award at 15,000 points per night. A Club Carlson credit card member could book this hotel for two nights and pay only 15,000 points.

A Club Carlson member can also buy 15,000 points for $105. Members can buy up to 40,000 points in a calendar year at the rate of $7/1,000 points. A couple can both buy points and then transfer points into the member’s account who has higher elite status for better award stays.

The value to me for booking the weekend extend 2-for-1 rate as a paid stay is earning 2,000 bonus points for online booking, earning elite qualifying credit, and with Club Carlson’s triple points promotion for stays through March 15, the room rate earns 60 points/$1. A $65 stay earns about 6,000 Club Carlson points.

A stay at the Radisson Blu Dresden for two nights at $65 per night earns about 10,000 points. This hotel is a category 5 award at 44,000 points per night.

Club Carlson is looking like a good investment for European stays as a Gold elite member.

Can a gold member book two rooms of this 2-1 rate on the same stay?

  • yesleez February 27, 2013

Never mind, just read the t&c. Thanks, definitely going to look into this. Do you know if they will status match SPG plat to CC concierge?

  • Corridor! February 27, 2013

    @yesleez

I have been told that they won’t match CC concierge. You have to earn that.

Note that at least once last year Club Carlson offered a 50% bonus on purchased points.

Also note that anybody can transfer points to anybody (no relation or household requirements). There is no charge for transfers.

@yesleez – My understanding of status match is the same as Corridor! that Concierge must be earned.

Be sure to enter the Points, Miles & Martinis giveaway for complimentary Club Carlson Gold elite status. Club Carlson will give a Gold elite member Concierge status for one year if you win the PMM giveaway.

@Carl P – Another great Club Carlson benefit is the ability to transfer points free of charge to another member. Now that I have Gold elite I better get my wife to transfer all her points to me. Since I manage her account that should be an easy request to fulfill. 🙂
