Club Carlson 50,000 points for Park Plaza stay

Club Carlson has rolled out a 50,000 points bonus promotion for a single Park Plaza stay for the first 20,000 members to register and stay at a Park Plaza hotel from June 28 and completed by August 28, 2012. This is a fourth high-bonus promotion for Club Carlson’s fourth hotel brand.

After the first 20,000 members register, the bonus will be 15,000 points for for additional registrants after a single stay.

The main drawback for members in North America is the only Park Plaza hotel is located in Bloomington, Minnesota. There are two Park Plaza hotels in Brazil and the rest are in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Here is the directory of Park Plaza hotels around the world.

My wife and I completed stays at Radisson and Country Inn hotels this past week on our road trip through California to Disneyland to earn 188,000 points.

Minnesota will be a little more difficult to reach this summer.

  1. Im in London – is it worth it to spend $100 more than what id normally spend on hotel to stay at park plaza and get the 50k points?

  2. Wish they counted retroactive stays. I spent a night at a Park Plaza in Amsterdam in March 🙂

  3. @Michael–I looked at the value proposition as paying $100 (in your case) for 50k points (plus the points that you’d get for the stay). That’s enough for one night in any Radisson Blu hotel around the world and almost two nights in many Club Carlson hotels. Do you think you’d be able to get more than $100 value from the 50k points? If so, then go for it. I personally see much more value from 50k points, so I’d go for it.

  4. You can see an interactive map of Park Plaza locations at http://www.parkplaza.com/destinations/# (un-check the boxes for the other Club Carlson brands).

One in North America (Minnesota), one in South America (Sao Paolo), none in Australia or Africa, a modest number in Europe and Asia…mostly in cities off the normal tourist track.

  5. Come on over to MN…the hotel is close to Mall of America (about 5 miles straight on 494) and it provides free shuttle service. The weather is beautiful too…

  6. Right now the Park Plaza’s are 169 pounds for my last night stay — I can hotwire a hotel by the airport (same difference to me as I have a noon flight the next day) for $62, so we are probably talking $150 difference. If they can drop into the 139 pound range, I’d probably do it — as I do like the Radisson Blu hotels in Paris quite a bit.

  7. Staying at the Bloomington Park Plaza tonight… $60 + 5k points all in for a net of 45k points? Not bad. I’ll have to take a dip in the pool to cool off after work as a bonus.

  8. Just registered and booked a stay at the Park Plaza in Sao Paulo towards the end of August. Happened to have a trip coming up there, and I’ve already booked hotels between now and then, so just squeezed this one in.

I stayed at the Radisson Crystal City earlier this year for another 50,000 bonus points, which were awarded.

Although I see you mentioned (in a different post) the double gold bonus points did not require booking a room at a different rate, this Park Plaza had a slightly higher rate for the “ClubCarlson DoubleGold Points Guest Room”. About $20 diff – which I booked.

  9. Btw a simple question that may have been answered elsewhere but do you have to physically check at the front desk counter in the hotel, or since there is a no show penalty of at least the first night on most reservations, especially those made through Carlson.com, you will still get the associated Carlson bonus?

Also I understand with most Carlson properties, you don’t need to check out physically at the front desk counter either as the staff slides the final bill under the room door on the last morning.

Is that the case across all Carlson properties (Radisson, Country Inn, Park Inn, Park Plaza) and locations in the US and ard the world?

  10. @laurent – In general I think you have to check in to the hotel in person to get the bonus credit. You will likely not get the bonus if you do not physically check in, even if charged for the stay.

I never have received points for stays I forgot about booking and then did not check in, even when charged one night for the stay.

I have always received credit for hotel stays where I checked in, but did not physically check out.

There is no guarantee what will happen at any specific Carlson hotel with no physical checkout, but that is how hotel stays have always worked for me across different chains.

  11. V. timely. I status matched to Carlson and already have 2 stays here for the latest promo.

I will be in London July. I registered and will book a paid night at PP Riverbank.
I would never have made the Park in MSP so this is nice.
One question, the wording is ‘Enough points for one Free Night at any PP’
The points are good for any Carlson award res correct?
    Thanks.
