Breaking News: Club Carlson will count existing reservations for current promotions

Club Carlson will announce in the next couple of hours that existing reservations made prior to the May 15 launch of the Radisson Big Night Giveaway, Country Inn and Park Inn promotions will count for the promotion bonuses.

A few minutes ago I received a call from Molly Biwer, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. The Club Carlson team have decided to change the promotion terms in light of the inaccurate information going out on Facebook and through my blog last week that existing reservations booked prior to May 15 would count for the current Club Carlson promotions.

The good news is that this change in the promotion terms applies to any existing reservations made prior to May 15. So even if you booked in January 2012 for a stay in the May 15-July 15 promotion period for Radisson and Country Inn or May 22-July 22 promotion period for Park Inn, you can register and earn bonus points for your hotel stay.

Club Carlson is a customer-centric hotel loyalty program and this is the kind of responsiveness I expected from the team running the program.

Now back to concentrating on where I will book my hotel stays for these promotions.

My mother already completed her Radisson hotel stay last night.

She was excited about these Club Carlson promotions. I have turned my mom into a real Loyalty Traveler.

  1. Thanks for Sharing this. Do you have any confirmation on whether points + Cash rates are eligible?

  2. Awesome news Ric…
Kudos to you and others who who stepped up made it happen. Thanks for sharing the info

  3. Vinay & HF – I never actually asked again about the Cash & points.

I assume they count since they earn points and it has been written elsewhere that stays earning points qualify.

But you know what happens when I assume!

I think they count, but I have not noticed it published anywhere yet. I have been busy since Tuesday and I haven’t been following the Club Carlson discussion too closely.

  4. Can my wife book a room in my name and will the bonus points be credited? Or does the named carlson member have to be present at check-in? I know for last promo in nov-dec ishe got points when i stayed. Also what do folks think about needing to check-out in person, will that be enforced.

  5. @ORD-TGU – AAA and senior rates apply for the bonus points.

@Apex – That is risky trying to book a room in some one else’s name. My parent’s had a reservation recently in both their names, but in my dad’s account. The desk agent would not let my mom check-in until my dad got out of the car and showed his ID.

I think the checking out term is a tough one to enforce. I frequently do not check out since I have a copy of my hotel folio under the door and the checkout desk is too busy for me to want to wait in the morning.

But I do not want to risk 50,000 points by not physically being present to checkout.

  6. My wife was physically present this morning when I checked us out on the TV. If that doesn’t count, Club Carlson had better prepare themselves for a Twitter storm 🙂
