  1. Do they offer you an air machine to clean the volatiles out of the air from the renovations? Ear plugs for when they are working?

    I’ve left some hotels early because they were renovating and making noise and obnoxious smells. My girlfriend has changed hotels because they renovated and the rooms still had that fresh carpet and paint stink.

    Offering extra points for folks willing to stay there is probably a good deal for those who don’t have a good sense of smell.

  2. I stayed at Homewood Suites SFO the first night it opened and the smells were tough. Plus they gave us a huge floral bouquet that really sent my wife’s allergies over the top.

    The flowers were so lovely and expensive a gift that we took them on our British Airways First Class flight to London. The flowers had their own business class seat.

    Turned out the pilot of the 747 was retiring and that was his last flight. We greeted him and handed over our flowers as we departed the plane.

    Drilling and hammering during hotel renovations is something I have encountered a number of times at hotels.
