Conrad New York now open

Conrad Hotels is the Hilton hotel brand that has been slow to grow over the past decade. Yesterday the Conrad New York opened and brings the hotel brand up to four hotels in the USA or five including Puerto Rico. There are only 21 locations worldwide.

Conrad New York has a Welcoming Weekends Package available for booking through April 30, 2012 for stays from March 23 to May 31, 2012.

The rate includes double HHonors points and free internet. My rate check for April 27, 2012 showed $349 and after taxes the nightly rate is $406. This is a prepaid, nonrefundable rate. That is 3,490 bonus points with this offer if you want to accept a no refund policy for the special rate offer. This hotel is a participating property in Hilton HHonors double points or double miles. This deal means at least 35 points/$1 for a Points & Points earner.

A check showed the AAA rate is also $349 for this date and may be canceled up to day before arrival.

Hilton’s flexible dates calendar allowed me to quickly find the low rate $216 for the night of March 31 with a rate change for April 1 for the weekend March 31-April 2, 2012.

Conrad New York Hotel Photos

The main reason I am writing about the Conrad New York is a piece I came across today in the Tribeca Citizen with 17 beautiful photos of the hotel. These photos are far nicer than ones shown on the hotel website and actually inspire me to want to see this hotel in person.

I find it interesting that hotel websites generally do not include many relevant photos of the hotel. I like to say that the average traveler with a camera can provide far more detailed and accurate photographs of a hotel in a one hour visit than the hotel itself does for its prospective guests. Check for yourself and look at the Conrad New York hotel website photos and the TribecaCitizen.com photos.

Where is North End Avenue? Is the location reasonable at all? Any subways nearby?

Never mind, I see it is near the World Trade Center site. The weekend rates ought to be an even better deal

That $216 rate is a winner – great find, like my $89 stay at the Hilton Fashion District. Otherwise it’s points for me in Manhattan.

I have been traveling around the world and I found this deal very reasonable. $216 is really a winner.
