Hotel loyalty 2012 Q1 promotions Starwood Hotels Starwood Preferred Guest

Starwood Starpicks look good this week

Starwood Starpicks offer discount rates over the next six weeks at select properties.  The discount is typically 20% to 33% off the Best Flexible Rate. AAA and senior discounts are generally 10% off Best Flexible Rate.

Some hotels only offer Starpicks rates for weekends and other hotels offer discount rates seven days a week. Main point to know is these hotel rates are prepaid and nonrefundable. You can’t change the reservation or cancel. You lose the entire stay deposit if you need to change or cancel the hotel reservation.

The Starpicks list looks unusually large this week. January is the slowest period of the year in many places. My search of hotels in California and British Columbia show some good deal low rates at several hotels.

The format has changed and I do not see a webpage with a full list of hotels like in past weeks.

Sample of Starwood Starpicks hotels:

Paris – Le Meridien Etoile 149 EUR

Paris – Westin Vendome 272 EUR

Vancouver – Westin Bayshore 129 CAD

Vancouver – Sheraton Vancouver Wall 135 CAD

Montreal – Le Meridien Versailles 109 CAD

Avon, Colorado – Westin Riverfront $299 (Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in same neighborhood and next to ski lifts on mountains. Westin is located at valley floor in town of Avon.)

Aspen, Colorado – St. Regis $499 (recently remodeled)

San Francisco – W San Francisco $179. Good rate for this hotel that frequently is $100 per night more.

San Francisco- St. Regis $335 (one of best beds I’ve ever slept in and great tub.)

Napa – Westin Verasa Napa $143 (some rooms have full kitchens)

Hollywood – W Hollywood $199

Here is the Starpicks link for Starwood hotels that must be booked by Friday, January 27 for these rates over the next six weeks.

Starpicks Terms & Conditions. Main one to know is hotels have a four-night limit on stays at Starpicks rate. Resorts have 14-night limit.

The Westin Beaver Creek is amazing. $299 still isn’t cheap, but it is lower than normal for this time of year!

FWIW, the Le Meridien Etoile starpick rate really isn’t as good of a deal as this 50% offer:

Just caught that the T&Cs do not allow these rates to be bundled with other promos … you agree that this means we cannot get the 2x/3x promo for 2/3+ day stays?

@John – Starpicks earn Starpoints and stays that earn Starpoints are eligible for promotions. I’ve never had a problem with Starpicks rates.

@HikerT – Travelzoo does look like better deal and rate books through Starwood site so eligible for all benefits and promotions.
